May 4th 2009 8:27PM I think Blizz should just revamp Old World stuff -- everything from graphics to questlines, add in new points of interest, tweak the gameplay and objectives the way they do with expansion content. That way, new players would still have a new (and better looking - some of those old character models are just crap by WOTLK standards) experience and veteran players who are leveling alts might not be as prone to Toonicide.
May 1st 2009 2:38AM Blame falls squarely on Blizzard, IMO. I would have likely done the same thing, as many, many other players have said. You find a dollar on the street, you pick it up and spend it. You find a twenty in your wallet one morning, you treat yourself to lunch. Blizzard should have stood up and taken responsibility for the mix-up and instead ends up acting just like the soulless, giant player-hating corporation that all the naysayers out there so frequently portray them as. I love WoW, I love Blizzard, but this ones on you, guys. Make it right, then make sure it never happens again.
Apr 29th 2009 6:49PM I use Curse, it's great and I don't plan to stop -- but neither do I plan to start paying. On principal, I would pay for the service alone without all the "bells and whistles" of Premium service...but since Premium service is now what the old service used to be, and Basic service is now bare-bones...well, it's more than a little frustrating. I would pay $1.99/month for it, if I were offered that option - and only as a "donation", not as a "subscription". But it looks like thats not happening.
Oh well, a few extra mouse clicks never killed anyone (well, except for in-raid).
Apr 29th 2009 4:41PM I would have used it, no question. I would likely have gone into Ulduar, downed a couple of bosses, jokingly bragged to a few friends, and then reported it to a GM, hoping they would understand and that would be that. You get something like that in the mail, you you it (don't abuse it) -- you find money on the ground, you take it, as noble as everyone wants to appear in front of others, they would likely have done something similar though, for the record, I think he took things way too far and deserved to get banned for knowingly exploiting the system multiple times. His guild, on the other hand, didn't do a thing and shouldn't be banned.
Anyway, I bet he had fun while it lasted, good for him - it's not like this will happen again, now. He got a taste of what it's like to be a developer for a couple days. Sounds fun to me.
Apr 29th 2009 12:41AM Thanks for posting this link. I run a print shop and I know exactly what I'll be spending my day doing tomorrow. :)
Apr 27th 2009 1:45PM I see no reason to think it would be anything other than Northrend related, probably lore-related, either involving AN/OK and Icecrown Citadel, the three or four remaining portals underneath Wyrmrest where OS is, or something else in Northrend that already has the groundwork laid for it but is currently inaccessible. As cool as it would be to see new Old World stuff, Blizz has a story to tell in Northrend and they haven't finished that yet, so everything before the new expansion will likely relate to that, unless it's something along the lines of CoT-style OW history active tourism.
Apr 27th 2009 8:41AM I was in Razor Hill on Whisperwind within 30 minutes of the event starting on Saturday night/Sunday morning and, when I tried to loot an egg that was at a spawn point which some awesome guy apparently decided was his (one of three he was seen bouncing between), I was promptly told to "quit being a ni**er" and find my own place to camp.
In light of the absolute absurdity that is some complete jerk getting that upset, that quickly, I decided to say "screw this holiday" and go back to raiding.
Blizz, did you really not think this through? Do the Kool Kids all get to be assholes to everyone else because they can go egg hunting in the middle of the night? For me, the spirit of the "holiday" was torched and destroyed within my first few minutes.
Apr 23rd 2009 4:13PM Raid Strats:
Best WoW video strategy guides on teh interwebz, IMO. Made by tanks, made for everyone. Perfect. Just go and watch them, that's all you need.
