The last gasp of 25-man raiding {WoW}

Feb 24th 2012 3:41PM Sorry my friend but "it's harder to get a 25 man raid together" is not a justification for getting better rewards. What you're suggesting is that Blizzard now needs to bribe players to raid 25 mans by offering better rewards. What you end up with is players who may not want to raid 25 man content for whatever reason who are "forced" to (and I use that term with tongue firmly in cheek as no one is making anyone do anything in an MMO) to maximise their rewards. Furthermore you'll find us going back to a Lich King scenario where the 25 man raiders gear up hard and then smash through 10 man content in their "better" gear.

Personally I don't see the problem, 25 man raiding is antiquated. Blizzard doesn't particularly like it as it means they have to try to make an environment that can handle 25 players at once and they obviously don't really want to. Look back at MC, BWL, AQ, BT, SSC, TK, Hyjal etc, even Naxx. The environments themselves were massive with room for 40/25 players to spread out and room for Blizzard to create mechanics that would be viable in 40/25 man raiding without being unplayable for the large raid sizes. Now when you look at Dragon Soul the environments are small in the final fights. 25 players on gunship makes it difficult to see much of the action and on spine/madness it's ridiculous. If you added any sort of significant AOE "don't stand in the fire" mechanic to those fights the 25s would struggle. Blizzard is making fights that look and play well in 10 man situations but are holding onto the 25 man size mostly for nostalgia.
