Addon Spotlight: Scrolling combat text addons {WoW}

Feb 17th 2012 8:44AM Hello!
I'm not sure if this has been covered before, but I'd love to see this column handle some addons that are particularly handy for LFR.

After a couple of LFR runs last week with some trolls that kept wiping the group over and over by starting encounters while half the group is there at half health, pulling bosses with trash still up etc, I've been looking at Who Pulled? (http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/whopulled) in particular. It would be nice to identify and call out the guys that do it immediately instead of having a 'no it was hunter X!' - 'No you!' fight in raid chat and cycling through dozens of new raid members before we find and kick the griefer.
However, looking at the comments on the curse site, the addon seems to require a fair bit of work still.

Would you recommend this addon or are there other good addons to show who pulled? And anything else that is nice with things you typically encounter in LFR?

Feb 7th 2012 3:13PM Nooooo Tyler...! :(

As for a new one...I still wish they would have hired the awesome Dusk (yep, he did apply in the past)... author of the Legendary 'How to Battlegrounds' warlock guide (http://wowarchive.yg.com/thread.html?topicId=15657787949&sid=1&pageNo=1 < it's still here!) and the famed You Awaken in Razor Hill story (http://thelittlestmurloc.com)
That man is gold. GOLD!

Feb 7th 2012 7:39AM I second Lipstick's advice.
Apart from the Atonement spec being very effective, it's also immensely fun! I know some healers shy away from the spec because 'they are a healer and don't want to dps!'. I was a bit the same when Cata came out. But I gave it a try, and it completely won me over.. probably one of the most fun specs I ever played! (and I am now also a fanatic Telluric Currents lightning bolt spammer on my raiding resto shammie, hehe)

Make sure to pick up the Glyph of Divine Accuracy too: http://www.wowhead.com/item=45758. This will increases your hit chance for Smite and Holy Fire spells by 18%, making sure they will always provide that heal (and if you are leveling by quests, this also comes in handy.. those red lvl mobs? No problem :) No Shadow spec needed!)

For quite a while you might even find yourself healing AND topping dps meters in low lvl dungeons :)

Patch 4.3.2 released today, launch your clients early [Updated patch notes] {WoW}

Feb 1st 2012 11:50AM One thing I'd love to see fixed is role bonuses actually being decided by the spec people are in, instead of the role they selected. Plenty of times I find my healer in LFR as one of the only 3-4 people actually healing.. while the other 'healers' are happily topping the dps charts. And it's sad to see them then win the healer weapon with role bonus over the healers that actually did what they signed up for.

Another thing would be to define some loot a little better: for example the healing shield that drops from Warmaster. The shield is not restricted by role, but by class (only paladins and shamans). Last time I was there, I saw it being won with role bonus by a ret pally, who had a prot offspec... he then continued to be a dick about it :/

Jan 28th 2012 2:58PM If you want to go see the blackened End Time version of Dragonblight for yourself, there is quite an easy way to get out there via the place where you fight Sylvanas. Near the tree where a few ghouls and skeleton birds fight over a carcass (you'll have to kill them) you can make a mounted jump to the ledge behind them that lets you get up the tree. Run along the tree on the right side, and an open path straight to Wyrmrest Temple is in front of you :)

It's quite amazing to run around there, pretty much the whole zone is there, completely redone as a black charred version. There is no life, apart from a few gryphons and windriders still perched on their posts, and a poor trapped crab and baby orca at the Kalu'ak villages.

You can see part of the zone from the entrance of the instance and some of the areas you fight, but at most places invisible walls block you from entering. Let's hope they don't close this way off.. also would be a bit silly when Blizz redesigned the whole zone only to have 90% of it invisible for players hehe :)

(P.S. don't jump in the hole in the world near Wintergarde Keep, I've tested it and it does not end well ;))

The Queue: Stat inflation, loading screens, Extra Buttons, and more {WoW}

Dec 17th 2011 4:24PM It may seem a stupid question, but.. are you sure you are wearing all your gear? I've been suffering from a weird bug on my shaman off-and-on in Cataclysm, where my shield randomly gets unequipped and gets placed in the last slot in my last bag.

(And I often don't notice it missing.. ehem. You don't wanna know how many raids I've healed without shield hehe)

Dec 16th 2011 5:37AM (And I.. I think I NEED that little wind-up corgi dog! It looks as if it's been designed to be more than a little decoration, right? It deserves to be a companion pet! Please, Ghostcrawler, promise us a Wind-Up Corgi too.. Ponies and Mooses be damned and we've been good this year!)

Dec 13th 2011 10:29AM Hehe :) You can also give your flamescythe kitty green hair, by having
the Disgusting Oozeling out, like this: http://www.wowhead.com/item=20769#screenshots:id=244196
Though I wouldn't recommend it in dungeons and raids ;)
