Scattered Shots: MoP hunter changes galore {WoW}

Mar 29th 2012 8:02PM So is this model: http://www.wowhead.com/npc=32517

Yet he is in my stable. I want to tame the new one too!

Mar 29th 2012 5:45PM Having seen it for myself, I can confirm that the ranged slot is gone. There are just two weapon slots in Mists Beta instead of the three on Live. When I logged in on my transferred hunter, my bow was in the main hand slot and my staff was in my bags. As with any 2-hand weapon, the off-hand slot remains empty.

I'm sure they just haven't bothered to stat balance everything yet. It's too early to worry about that yet.

Mar 29th 2012 5:30PM It is likely that you will need to be 85 to enter Pandaria. Or at least, to receive quests. You would probably be "summonable" by warlocks, but the quests won't be available to you. Since Cata was only 5 levels long and Mists is the same, it's likely they'd prefer you to wait to quest until 85.

One big reason is the power jump. The damage and health levels of mobs jump pretty significantly during the Cata leveling experience and a similar trend is likely to continue in Mists. A level 86 mob in Mists will probably rip apart a level 83 PC simply due to the likely large number difference.

Mar 29th 2012 4:32PM Blizzard stated some time way back sometime around early Wrath (last time flying was disabled) that they don't want to increase ground speed any more. They don't like people moving that quickly on the ground. Too many technical and aesthetic problems. Of course, as with anything that may change.

"If you want players in the world, give them a compelling reason to do so and look around."

The flying restriction isn't focused on getting people out in the world, it's more about managing the questing experience. With flying mounts, no matter how fast, you can hop on the mount and fly to the exact quest location and ignore everything in between. Ground mounts encourage you to experience the terrain and allow Blizzard to create quests knowing what you will see by keeping you on the ground.

I like it! Flying is fun, but being grounded is better for the questing experience. In my opinion. :) And it won't last forever, just until level 90.

Mar 28th 2012 12:33PM I'm a fan of Stephen Erickson's "Malazan Book of the Fallen." It's a large ten book series and I enjoyed it. The last few books seemed "bloated" to me, but I still recommend the series.

Mar 28th 2012 12:30PM No, there is no truth to this rumor.

There's no reason to do this. They're already very easy to get, Mists won't change anything.

Mar 28th 2012 12:26PM I have been in the Beta since it started last week.

Unfortunately, I have been very busy this past week and haven't gotten to play around much. :(

Tonight though....wheee!

Breakfast Topic: What are you just not that excited about in Mists? {WoW}

Mar 28th 2012 12:18PM I have solved your troubles! All you need is this http://www.wowhead.com/item=44235 and this http://www.wowhead.com/item=40768. No need to ever return to a town again, except to turn in quests!

Disclaimer: You may need to spend lots of gold and/or level a new profession in order to claim the wonderful benefits of convenience. If you're lucky, the stuff you make won't blow up on you!

Actually, what do you need flight paths for to find mailboxes? Almost anywhere that has a flight path you can hop on will have a mailbox and a repair guy or two. While you will have to run all over the place, quest hubs should always be fairly close by. I loved the pre-flight questing in Vanilla, BC and Wrath. I think it's a great choice for Mists. (Oh and remember that you can fly in Pandaria at level 90.)
