Nov 10th 2007 9:37AM I quit WOW a couple times but always seemed to come back to it. I had quit for good when an old girlfriend and I decided to give it one more shot. I figured I would build a Frost mage for the ice lance shatter crits. Then they nerfed the crit bonus from shatter. I haven't been back in 6 months.

Optimistic speculation about expansion number two {WoW}

Jul 9th 2007 3:23PM Blizzard, I'm sure, has already planned out the next expansion and is working on it now. Any suggestions would have to apply to a third expansion.

They've already said they will be releasing expansions annually. So the expansions will probably be smaller than TBC but still add some interesting things.

Maybe they will copy stuff from LOTRO, like titles, deeds, musical instruments, and NPC character play. Maybe some extra-client apps, like auction house browsing and guild chat on portable game systems or a web-site.

My personal wish, and it's a long shot, is an optional graphical update. Maybe even DX10 support. Add in some special effects and higher rez textures. More animation and detail in the cities.
Make it optional for folks running the game on toasters, Iphones, and ancient computers.

Former WoW and EverQuest programmers working on sci-fi MMOG {Joystiq}

May 3rd 2007 2:48PM I played WoW for 2 years and kinda got burned out on it. The thing I really love about Blizzard's games is the sense of humor and character they put into them. All the voice emotes and jokes and pop culture references make the game fun. No other game even tries to do that. Plus, Warcraft's setting is pretty unlimited. They have robots and dinosaurs and ghosts and gyrocopters, whatever the hell they want to put in there.

I tried out that LOTR online game last night. It's WOW, but replace all the humor and fun with Tolkein references and make the classes really basic and boring. That's LOTRO. It feels like WOWs mechanics and Guildwars graphics stuck in Tolkein's lore. LIke WOW, but not as fun, unless you are a Tolkein nut.

I just wish they would hire some company to make a GOOD Star Wars MMO. SWG was the bottom of the barrel. Well..okay..maybe the Matrix MMO was the worst. But SWG is down there with it!

Know Your Lore: Medivh {WoW}

Jan 31st 2007 2:51PM Back in the early days of the game I was asked by my friends on Thunderhorn to dig into the lore and come up with a name for our first guild. I came up with "Guardians of Tirisfal," which is what Medivh was one of.
We lasted about 6 months until Blizz made us change the name. They said they wanted to use it for something in the future. Our guild split up after that.

For more information on Medivh and the Guardians of Tirisfal, visit the Stormwind Library.

Know Your Lore: Medivh {WoW}

Jan 31st 2007 1:46PM You should also probably mention that the story you just outlined of Khadgar and Medivh is told in the warcraft novel, The Last Guardian by Jeff Grubb. It's the best written and most entertaining of the Warcraft novels to date and should be required reading for anyone going into Kharazan
