5 not-so-simple ways Blizzard can fix the World of Warcraft Auction House {WoW}

Feb 21st 2012 4:20PM Posts like these remind me of my FF11 days and it's wonderfully intuitive interface & shopping/buying system for their AH. Namely, a seller puts up an item for a price. A buyer then will turn around and search and search and search through a laborious interface trying to find an item. "Is that teleport spell under white magic or black magic?" "I see that Sword of Badassary is listed but, aww, it's greyed out so no one is selling it."
Then, once they finally find the item they want, they have to play 'high and low'. The buyer puts in a general amount they want to buy that particular item for. The server then looks through and determines whether or not there is an item available for that price or less. If so, the item is bought and the entire amount the buyer offered for the price (i think) is taken from them and given to the seller. If not, the server kicks back an error and they have to decide whether to increase their bid and try again or give up if it's getting too high. So, if a Copper Shield of Dumb was up for 50 gil and a buyer offered 100 gil for it, the buyer would lose their 100 gil and the seller would get an extra profit of 50 gil...I think, it's been a while.

Oh, and each major city had its own auction houses that, generally, weren't connected. If something was listed in Sandoria but you were in Bastok then you had to run all the way there (or get a guildie to buy it for you)
Oh x2, you were also charged a tax on your selling AND on your buying, and certain areas had a radically inflated tax compared to others (I'm thinking Jeuno)

Breakfast Topic: What NPC do you miss the most? {WoW}

Jan 24th 2012 8:20AM Though he's not really gone, persay, I miss Cro Threadstrong and his tireless war on the vagrant fruit cart. It's one of those nice touches that Cata didn't really have, and this saddens me. At least I can take heart buying an apple from him to smash on the alts I send through Shat.
