May 4th 2010 1:36PM From the constant decursing/slowing/CCing, I am having trouble keep 4 full stacks of AB on bosses. For the most part I never have any trouble but the bosses that require mage's extra attention Arcane dps takes a toll. I wanna go back to fire like in the days of ulduar. I have some crit pieces saved up but I still feel its not enough crit to raid in. Self-buffed, I sit around 44% crit (with mostly haste gems/gear). What is a good amount of crit to have in order to be competetive in raids? I get mix answers. Someone tells me, 50% crit is the most you wanna have and someone else tell me to keep as much crit as possile. What is the crit cap even if there is any?

Fact: Sparkles are awesome.
Fact: Warlocks have poor personal hygiene and generally smell funny."
Feb 28th 2010 10:19AM IA is not only a nerf, its a waste of 3 talent points now. I just don't understand how this nerf is justifiable. Have they done this because of PVP or PVE? Ok so mages have competitively high dps (with rogues, hunter, warriors) on 2-3 bosses in the ENTIRE GAME. How many bosses are there in this game? Not to mention, Holy priests are preferred in end game raiding. How many times does a healer pay more attention to A CASTER DPS over 20 other raid members including tanks and malee dps who are likey taking more damage?
What about PVP? First off, This is not a PVP talent unless mages pvp in arcane. Arena mages always have, and always will pvp in frost. If PVP mages pick this talent, they give up on other talents like oh let me see, water elemental, brain freeze, the deep freeze, the core talents behind pvp and the entire frost tree. I can see this being a buff if they were trying to make frost raidable but at the cost giving up my water elemental.
Excuse my poor writing skills because its only 7am and I am in the process of drinking my 2nd cup of coffee but some please explain how this is justifiable?
Feb 22nd 2010 2:15PM IA is not as OP as everyone seem to think. Arcane Mages sacrifice over 5k-6k mana everytime that mana shield goes down. For an arcane mage thats a hefty amount of mana espacially if you have been waiting for the extra SP boost to blow your CDs. Once Arcane Power/Icy Veins/BL is on, mages become mana hungry and that 5-6k mana goes a long way. Mana gems only grant about half of the mana lost and it has a 2 min CD. Some other classes regain mana over-time without stopping their routine DPS, evocation takes 10 secs which might not seem a lot but it is when BL is up. I still think its a good change overall so mages don't abuse PW:S. Raiding arcane mages are already familiar with 2pts in frost warding. This talent will be great since there is no SP restriction.
Feb 19th 2010 6:35PM only 5% increased SP on frostbolt? Whatever happened to mages' frozen core buff last patch? we were suppose to get 1sec reduced casting for a short duration after ice lance crit. Instead Locks got a hug buff /shake fist at locks.
Feb 7th 2010 10:38AM Great column. As much as I enjoy raiding arcane, I must say the feeling of seeing living bomb explode of mobs seems like a long distant memory. Most of the mobs in ICC are best dps as arcane but I would like to see frostfire bolt back in action. Fire+wtt was great and fun but completely unpredictable. Blizz needs to up the base damage on FFB so raiding mages can get a similar buff like WTT 12% added damage. Since all mages deck out in SP and Haste gear, one can switch specs without worry about switching in/out gear.
I am usually happy with the number of AB crits and MB procs except for the last 2 weeks. I have been noticing MB proc less and less. In VOA i actually counted 13 AB without a singles crit or MB proc. Is this issue common or was I having a unlucky mage day?
Sep 3rd 2009 4:43PM I like the comment about "mage never getting any stam on his gear" Its so true. I have noticed, the more geared up i get, the less HP i have. Its kinda Stupid imo. 2pc T9, 3pc 8.5 and my HP sits around 15.4k. Its kind of pathetic. T7 had way more HP than T9 set. Locks and Priests get way more stam on their gear, why not mages?
Aug 31st 2009 4:57PM Haste is good but I am concerned for raiding fire mages. I m a fire ttw mage, and stacking about 43% fire crit right now. Haste and crit don't get along. Haste is great for arcane but deep fire mages will have to decide between the stats. I have seen tons of gear with either haste or crit, never together. The other issue is "how much haste?" in order to bring our 3 sec cast, mages need a insane amount of haste to make any difference. fire spec doesn't provide any haste where arcane and frost do. Will haste be reworked with crit and will the gear have both stats since spirit and spell power will be removed from dps gear. From what i have seen lately arcane spec will make a comback in the next patch and it will be nice to raid in arcane and even frost
Aug 5th 2009 12:56PM Iiving bomb on multiple target is pretty much the best thing that happend to mages. I was starting to get pretty hopeless after several nerfs (arcane power, POM, Spirit...etc) I did 25 uld last nite and the dps numbers were just amazing espacially on razorscale, xt, and freya. I was really becoming irrited with blizzard favoring malee dps. It made no sense to have rogues and dk do more dps on trash and boss since they can only eqipt 1 or 2 weapons lol. I couldn't be any happier with new living bomb mechanics. Hot streak has been working great for my except for maybe 5% of the times but it doesnt matter. missing one or 2 pyros 5 min fight doesnt make that much of a difference. Lets hope rest of classes don't start qq about mage actaully doing dps again. my other concern is fire in arena. I think we will start seeing some deep fire mages in arena.
On the side note, did u guys notice the new animation for blizzard? i like this animation way better than the gay dk frost circle.
Jul 28th 2009 7:31PM Did I miss mage stuff? I thought mages were getting living bomb on multiple targets and couple of frost mana effiency buffs but I see nothing along those lines. Did blizz decided to keep mages at the bottom of the food chain?
