Apr 22nd 2009 8:57PM I've been an avid fisher-gnome since I started playing WoW, having won the STV contest 3 times in a one month span (on two characters) prior to the Achievements patch, and the new dailies are the best addition to fishing since the first set of Outlands dailies.
I've only had 3 different versions of the new daily available since the 3.1 patch, but so far I've gotten the new pimp hat (grey item) and 2 of the Diamond-tipped canes. Still haven't gotten any jewels or the Strand Crawler though.
And I've fished up over 1500 fish/crates/Crystallized Waters since last Tuesday and still no Sea Turtle for me...
Mar 11th 2009 7:34PM I'm fairly sure that the matches that people started doing yesterday count since the post on the Warcraft homepage about the start of the 2nd round was made on 3/10/09.
They also said that the start of the 2nd phase would be accompanied by a reset of the arena team rankings on the Tournament Server.
My team formed on Monday and did 3 practice matches to get a rating other than 1500. On Tuesday morning after the server maintenance, I logged on and saw that the team ratings had indeed been reset. Since then my team has finished 90 matches and we haven't seen anyone complaining about ratings being reset late or anything.
I saw that same post on the forum from the guy with 200 matches completed yesterday, but the FAQ for the Arena Tournament clearly said that the prizes would be mailed out to eligible participants within 4 weeks of the END of the qualifier round. So even though he finished his matches yesterday, he should still get Murkimus, but it probably won't be for another 6-8 weeks.
Feb 27th 2009 2:53PM For Disease/Poison/Curse/Magic dispelling in my Raid group, we usually have a priest take care of the Magic while I cover the rest as my Resto Shammy. Some people swear by Decursive, but I tend to like Grid+Clique setup to show only the ones that I can remove with a 5-button mouse.
In general, the person giving out healing assignments should also know some details about the various healer classes, and set up the groups to best benefit the group make-up.
Specifically, I find myself having to remind the raid leaders that certain totems (the pulsing ones) don't affect the entire raid, and only work on the people in the same group as the Shaman.
I typically ask the leader to move my Shaman around based on the fight we are on. For Grand Widow Fraelina and Maexxna in Naxx (and most of the spider-wing), I have them put me in the same group as the melee/tank so that the poison cleansing totem can clear them when I can't. This little change in group can make a big difference, especially when Maexxna is doing her soft-enrage while poisoning the tank and webbing up the raid. This has saved me from having to waste a GCD on removing the poison from the tank before using my insta-crit-big-heal macro.
For most other fights I have the leaders put my Shaman in the same group as the healers, excluding the Healadin in my guild that seems to have a static blue bar beneath his health, that bastard...
Feb 20th 2009 1:02PM I've had the same thing happen to me twice while running as my Resto Shammy.
Back in BC, my old guild was raiding Kara and still having trouble killing Maiden at the time. On one run the attempt was going pretty well when the MT died at about 10% left on the boss' health. Luckily, the druid OT in the group shifted to bear and picked up Maiden, but not before kiting her across the room and behind one of the pillars, breaking line of sight with the only remaining healer (me). After the druid and the rest of the dps died, Maiden had about 800-1k health left and turned her attention to me. Frost Shock FTW! And that was the run where she decided to drop the resto shammy totem for my set, good times.
Since WotLK, I've had it happen again, but this time in heroic UP on the last boss, I forget his name. After the tank and melee dps decided to stand inside the glowing lightning orb thingy he drops and quickly die, the boss turned his attention to me with about 2k health left. Lightning bolt and Chain Lightning in quick succession killed him off and the tank got a nice upgrade for his sword.
I think I still have the SS of my solo kill on Maiden somewhere...
Jan 29th 2009 12:06PM After each new patch I like to trick people by telling the to check out the new animation for the "/gullible" emote.
60% of the time it works, every time.
Nov 10th 2008 11:34AM memememememe!!!
Nov 6th 2008 4:28PM oh please, oh please, oh please...
Oct 9th 2008 12:16PM that tabard will look great on my warlock!
Jan 23rd 2008 8:39PM While you did mention the trick of summoning people into the ocean, I've found that it works equally well to summon lowbies onto the flying islands throughout Outlands, the ones in Shattrath work really well and so do the islands in Netherstorm. To be truly evil, you need to convince them to use up their hearthstone before the summoning so they are stuck for an hour.
