Feb 18th 2010 12:29PM It was October 2008, and my husband and I were celebrating our anniversary at a crowded brewpub. The tables were crammed right up next to each other, everybody was jovial and loud (your basic brewpup atmosphere, right?) Well, a group of about 5 guys and a girl get seated next to us, and after a few minutes of trying not to overhear them, I realize that one of the guys was telling the other "And all these zombies just kept coming, and they wiped out ALL the NPCs and the flightmaster and everything! Stormwind is crazy, man!!"
Since we're right next to them, I start giggling and say "the Zombie event is pretty nuts in Shattrath, too." All the guys at the next table immediately perk up and we share a good laugh about it as we all tell horror stories about what was happening (the Zombie Apocalypse that happened right before Lich King released, for all you young uns), but the lone girl at their table laughingly groans about how she's "so sick of WoW talk..."
When we left, I encouraged her to give it a try, and she said she might, since it did seem to lead to interesting conversations with strangers. ;)
Feb 17th 2010 9:07AM I still have "Blood of Innocents" in my bank to summon Kirtonos in Scholomance...I keep thinking someone someday will have an alt that we'll be running thru Scholo, and hey! I can summon that guy!
Feb 11th 2010 1:34PM Well, your tone, Tori, regarding those of us who DO care about raiding and utilizing our class to its greatest degree is exactly the same as mine. Thank you, come again.
And if you didn't get my analogy to a job interview (i.e "srs bsnss") and raiding, well, /shrug. I echo Frost's thoughts about not being emotionally attached to any spec, I just want to have a good time and be the best player that I can be, and not waste my fellow raiders time by being sub-par. To those of you that have no such plans, hey, I kind of salute you...its certainly much easier to go farm for pretty Exotics or play the AH game.
Feb 11th 2010 12:29PM Couldn't raid Tuesday nite as 4 or our 10 raid members were NEVER able to log on, and last night was doing the V-Day boss and made the mistake of trying to switch out some alts. Took over 20 minutes from log-out to log-in.
This is spectacularly bad, even for the holiday already known as "Lag Is In The Air."
Better get it fixed before the overlapping Lunar Festival descends this weekend!
Feb 11th 2010 12:22PM The numbers tell us that your topping the meters is a result of lackluster performance on the other DPS-ers part, not your magic ability to play BM "better."
See: As they say, the plural of anecdote is not data.
I just hate to see hunters wasting their class abilities if their goal is to be a monster death-dealer in a raiding environment. Heck, if you wanna run around and collect spirit beasts 'cause they're pretty, go for it! Just don't expect to come on my raids...We all pick our battles and our sides. ;)
Feb 11th 2010 12:16PM Ok, A. Don't claim that you have more fun collecting mini-pets than raiding when you don't even raid. You pretty much lost me at that one...
and B. GREAT article, Frost! Just, right on target (pun intended). For those of us that play the Hunter class and want to reach its full potential, this is priceless, clarified information.
Just as you would not go to a job interview wearing ratty old shorts and a t-shirt and expect to be taken seriously, (even tho you might claim that you can do your job well in them, and better than some people who wear those fancy suits) - if you are serious about performing your class to the best of ITS capabilities you just shouldn't show up to go raiding as Beastmastery.
Feb 8th 2010 12:34PM Preach it, Grandpappy!
I have to admit that even today I am somewhat of a "self-hating" hunter, since there were so many gawdawful players back in the day (but I loved the class, dammit, and didnt want to give up on it. I'll fail to mention that I ran with a wind serpent then, teehee...) It was hard not to have a bit of hunter shame, especially when strangers would automatically assume that you were a huntard before you even stepped in to the instance.
My run of choice is still one where I am the Beta fish of hunters - I do best in my own tank. ;)
Jan 26th 2010 11:13AM Whatevs...
If you don't find this piece a moving and heartfelt ode to a magnificent steed then you are obviously a robot that has never loved anything.
Jan 23rd 2010 6:45PM Brilliance!
Now I must fly to Nagrand and check out Axeapple Island!
Jan 23rd 2010 6:31PM Ok, this is maybe not the most PC in-joke, but you know how in the first part of ToC with the jousting? You have a lance with a shield on it, and well, if you are a character that already has a shield equipped, THAT shield also stays visible.
Well, for some reason my usual group (also RL friends) found that utterly hilarious, and then it morphed into our tank being so "special" that he needed "two shields" to stay alive. You know, kind of like having to wear a helmet or ride the short bus or something...
Still to this day if someone does something spectacularly bone-headed, one of us will inevitably say "I haz two shields." In a funny voice if we're on vent.
We have laughed ourselves into hysterics over it. In fact, at the GenCon game fair last year one of my friends posed with two shields from one of the armor/sword booths, and its now his picture on my phone! ;)
