Aug 1st 2011 10:00AM I've been interested in WoW lore for some time, but never read any of the books. If I were start from the beginning, which book(s) would you recommend?

Mar 14th 2011 10:03AM I feel the OPs pain. I, and a few guildies, picked up RIFT and are really, really liking it. I was very skeptical at first as I've seen plenty of MMOs come and go, but RIFT does feel like it's going to hang on (providing Tirion continues to evolve the game).
I appreciate the articulation with some folks' dissatisfaction with WoW right now. I have to admit it. . .as a GL, I loved wrath. There were so many options and the content was accessible enough that even my friends who have a hard time with some of the class mechanics could participate. I was able to run a 'progression' group with the more hard core and a B group that still made good progress and had fun with more casual players. The ability to work in a 25-man was another way I was able to include a larger cross-section of my guild.
I personally don't mind the more challenging content, but it is starting to weaken our guild and thus making it less and less fun to log in.
And now RIFT, which is certainly a WoW knockoff, comes along and so far its stolen my heart. It is familiar enough to WoW that I'm not having to learn something completely new, but different enough that I am interested. It's prettier and the Soul system is simply amazing to me. There are some Quality of Life issues that WoW has worked out, but if Tirion is able to smooth them out, I have no doubt that RIFT will become a force to be reckoned with. Well, at least until Star Wars comes out ;)
