Nov 9th 2011 3:24AM @Rialle:
"Since Ghostcrawler was put in charge"?
He hasn't been put in charge of anything for years, and maybe even since 2004, when he first joined the WoW team. He's not the game director, he just oversees the player class and related stuffs team, and he's not the only person ON THAT TEAM. A team's a team; that means they make decisions as a group. He's the one that gets to represent those decisions as the team leader.
People seem to think that just because Greg's one of the more visible game designers at Blizzard in terms of community interaction he can make every decision about WoW arbitrarily himself when in fact he's just one person amongst a number of team lead underlings who all report to a boss above them.
I think Blizzard made plenty of mistakes with Cataclysm; lack of endgame content, too grindy content, bad difficulty curve for heroic 5mans and so on, but for chrissakes, give the guy a break, alright. He doesn't deserve HALF the criticism you people are slinging at him.
Oct 21st 2011 1:44PM The card with details about the WoW new expansion panel mentioned NEW RACE.
So there's going to be a new race. Singular.
Pandas are coming to WoW! You heard it here first! :D
Oct 17th 2011 1:39PM Blizzard could start balancing out balance AoE by making shrooms cause spellstorm damage like Starsurge instead of nature, and also make an arcane equivalent of Insect Swarm.
I'd like Starsurge to be on a much shorter cooldown also, kind of like hunter's Explosive Shot. It's currently very tedious to go from one eclipse to another, basically it's just spamming one button over and over - particularly solar to lunar, with wrath's very short cast-time and low eclipse power yield.
Eclipse itself is borked of course, even with my modest gear my wraths can crit for 50k during solar, which is just ludicrous, especially in PvP. Burst was the scourge of Wrath PvP, but that's no better this expansion around, melee classes regularly crit for 30+ k per special attack at better gear level which is also ludicrous. My health may be 5-6x higher than it was back in Wrath, but my survivability is just as bad due to damage going up an equal amount.
We were sold the concept during last Blizzcon that healing in instances would mean people being injured most of the time, and our greater health pools would act as buffers against incoming burst damage, but as all the Cataclysm heroics (especially the Zuls) brutally taught players, greater health doesn't mean diddly because while Blizzard may have bumped health by 5x they also upped damage by 10x. Stand in ANY of the Bad Stuff and you take ~70k per second. Sometimes per half-second. Stand in the way of General Umbriss' Blitz attack and you'll get 1-shot. No ifs and no buts, you just die, period, doesn't matter that you have full health or not. And so on.
Oct 17th 2011 1:16PM Problem with that however is that different druids value different stats. You can't shift into cat form as a balance specced druid and expect to be able to kill anything around your level, you'll just get smashed into tiny itty bitty pieces. It doesn't work.
Also, fight mechanics are seriously different for a cat and a moonkin. I don't play a cat because I don't particularly enjoy it, and I don't want Blizzard to spend lots of time to make cat form more useful for balance druids. I'd rather they spend that time on BALANCE to make it more useful for balance druids.
Sep 17th 2011 6:13AM Really? You found the magazine that interesting? I haven't even opened issues three and four, I was so put off by the first two issues in that they just recycled info that was already known. Hearing that you have to request refunding by writing (snailmail???), I'm glad I never refreshed my subscription for year two. What a rip-off.
Aug 26th 2011 4:35PM Removing moonkin form makes about as much sense as removing cat form, or bear form. There'd just be no point in being a balance druid without a corresponding form, we'd be nothing more than yet another mage, or warlock (or heck, elemental shaman).
Let moonkin wear shoulder armor pieces at least, that would require virtually no input from the art department. Same with cloaks. New helms would have to be built to fit an owl head, Tauren would probably be a good place to start making adjustments.
Not sure about chest, leg, belt, hands and feet. A big fat bird in a dress would look fecking nuts.
Oh, and we need to be able to cast heals in moonkin form (and our heals need to be stronger. Right now I can't outheal regular mobs in the firelands even with purple gear in every slot, it's pathetic. Stopping to heal in a fight when low on health just gets me killed. It's ridiculous that rogues now heal more effectively than a class with actual healing spells!
Aug 25th 2011 4:13PM Buddy. It's not the same people at Blizzard who fix bugs as those who make monkeys with hats. They have different crews for different jobs, not too hard to understand is it?
As in, you can't just grab all the modeling and texturing artists and stick 'em in front of a C++ editor/compiler and expect anything productive to come out of it.
Aug 25th 2011 4:02PM Then you better turn 'em all in before the patch hits don't ya.
Aug 25th 2011 4:00PM It would seem there's a monthly thing, but there's also weekly stuff (the tradeskill-related stuff, artifacts), and even daily quests too (bandaging beasts (wtf?), cooking food and whatnot).
So it would appear we can travel there whenever we like, but the announcement says there's a fee attached if it's not during the festival week of the month when we can use the voucher thingy to hearthstone there.
...Or that's how I interpret it anyway. It's a bit cloudy methinks, but blizz will clear things up after people have asked the same questions a million times. :P
Aug 17th 2011 10:14AM Not only do any and all clothes and other wearable items fit, but also, all men get hugely muscular bodies, and all women become ultra-fit and voluptuous, purely by being born into the world.
Somehow I find that even more unrealistic than people flinging fireballs from their hands and flying through the air on the backs of dragons... ;)
