This is true, companies do need to target certain demographics. There is an imbalance of the male to female ratio even with a rise in female gamers (especially in the RPG genre). I've studied the wow population (at least that of guilds) as an undergraduate in anthropology but never had the chance to look at gender differences and perceptions in WoW as a form of mass media.
Your style is provocative (as you can see in the comments), unique, and in my opinion enjoyable; I look forward to more! = ]
P.S. I'm not an "Anthropologist" but an Archaeologist (subset of anthropology) and I can say that it is a hell of a lot more interesting in RL than the mini game they have in WoW
Mar 14th 2011 1:33PM I like that Lily wore what an in-game character would have. It is a subject that has been debated among anthropologists, psychologists, and even politicians. Think about this: The majority of game designers are male in their 20s and 30s who for some reason cannot control their imaginations when it comes to the female from. A piece of armor on a male character will cover everything up almost completely where a female character has many revealing portions. I know it is a fantasy game... that is part of the fantasy... for men. I'll have to agree with exogenesis, what if it were a muscle bound guy in revealing clothing who was singing something? Something for exogenesis to think about: Lily is expressing something through imagery that already exists in the game that you enjoy so much, try to incorporate the whole of the music video into what the artist is trying to express.
Personally I like the blending of the realms of Azeroth and Earth, some of those scenes speak volumes about cultural norms in a gamer society surrounded by the cultural norms of our "RL society" and the roles that we play in both (yes as an anthropologist I classify gamers as a subcultural society defined by a community of practice).
Of course Lily it is always good to take others opinions with a grain of salt and not outright ignore them; exogenesis has a valid concern as a female gamer, but that doesn't mean there should be polarized extremes. I've noticed a fairly strong dichotomy within the female gamer culture, maybe it would be possible to bridge that?
That being said don't let negative comments dissuade you from doing more and getting even better!

Well obviously it is much better to talk about that last football GAME. I laugh at the distinctions people make with what is socially acceptable and what is not. The people who make a big deal about reality shows and if I've seen the last ______, which I reply that I haven't had cable T.V. in 3 years. How about them [insert sports team here]? Oh you mean the grown men that run back and forth on a field and throw/kick/hit a little ball around? Yes that is much better than my hobby.
The thing that I get the most flack from my gaming friends is the paid subscription... but I only spend $15 a month where they have to keep buying new games, and if they wanted to claim the same thing that would be only 1 game every 4 months. The real reason is that they want me to play their games; I should buy an xbox or a better computer (which I don't have that kind of money) and play with them! They shouldn't have to spend $15 a mo. in order to play something with me, of course not!
Remember the real reason folks: you are doing an activity that is not socially accepted because it is not what they are doing... no matter how unproductive and ridiculous their activity might be.
