Mar 3rd 2011 4:28AM "Honestly, it means that there's no reason to not be Stealthed at any time."
I totally agree with you, but unfortunately this means it will never survive to live, and if by some weird chance it does, look for it to get killed off in a hot fix soon thereafter. The devs are not going to want rogues staying stealthed permanently, and what this will do to the already-irritating lowbie ganking will be the final straw. My prediction: They'll allow the Subtlety talent to bring the speed while stealthed up to normal, but not past. Everyone else will still have some kind of speed penalty while stealthed, and no one will get to keep a Stealth with absolutely no cooldown. OK, maybe Subtlety, but I doubt it.

And the women of Azeroth are flat chested?
Feb 22nd 2011 1:19AM I'm really not so sure using someone's suggestion for an idea to improve the game would make Blizzard liable to lawsuits, even in the Litigious States of America. There's a difference between reading about someone's idea for a new game and adopting it for your own, versus reading someone saying "Gee I wish Blizzard would do *this* with WoW" and adopting that. The truth is that lawyers get paid to be overcautious to the extreme, so they would certainly recommend they not do it, but that's quite a bit different. The "Suggestion Box" has been a part of business since the first entrepreneur cut a penny piece of cloth in two and sold the halve for a penny each. And if you want to protect your ideas you have to show you actually mean to protect them, such as by keeping them to yourself and/or by copyrighting them. If you open your mouth on a public forum with no indication you are claiming ownership, you have no case.
Feb 15th 2011 1:36AM Garona stands out as a very different model from the norm. The others tend to look more like one model with maybe a touch of customization. The Blood Elves already look like crossbreeds between Night Elves and Humans -- specifically Humans originating from California.
Feb 9th 2011 3:56AM Without the slightest shadow of a doubt, I can tell you -- Arianna Huffington does not play Warcraft. It's like asking of Bobby Fischer played checkers.
Feb 7th 2011 12:58AM Very nicely written. Congratulations.
Jan 29th 2011 2:27AM Smart move on Blizz's part, but unfortunately there are several homegrown Chinese payment transaction outfits operating with all the normal credit cards, so all it does is force the gold sellers to use those probably-more-expensive options.
Jan 29th 2011 2:24AM "Selling retail versions of the game is a big capital moneymaker, covering a good amount of the cost of development. The monthly fee revenue generated pays for upkeep and the continued development, sure, but the initial investment has to be repaid somehow, and boxed copies are key."
I agree with the intent of your post, but this paragraph is incorrect. The revenue from selling boxes (or even downloads) of the client is a pittance -- it may cover the cost of production of the DVDs and advertising of the expansion, but that's about it. Literally everything is about the playtime. Sure it's nice to take $30 or $50 out of someone's pockets every couple of years, but it can't beat taking $15 out of their pocket every MONTH.
Basically think of the newspaper analogy -- the subscription rate covered basically...not much. Maybe some of the printing and some of the salaries for truck drivers. The advertising revenue was what it was all about. In the world of games, the box is the cover price, and the monthly fees are the "ads".
Jan 25th 2011 10:14PM This is bang on. When you trail Anduin around, you eventually get to the leader of SI:7 who sends you to find his agent in the ruined Old Barracks. That agent sends you to the cathedral basement to kill the Black Bishop and save the day. If you fly into the cathedral quickly enough, you'll see all the normal denizens of the upper floor (trainers etc.) phase out and disappear as you move to the catacombs.
