Sep 17th 2010 11:09AM Agree on UC > Org.
I just like it better aesthetically, plus it's a bit quieter. Now that they've added more mailboxes, most of my AH toons have moved from SMC to there as it seems more efficient. SMC is lovely though.
All my non bank/AH/storage toons live in Dal usually.
Sep 16th 2010 7:46PM Good article.
Another thing to consider is name availability. For some that's a big deal. I'm 'preparing' for a big move right now (big because I'll eventually be moving several toons) and one of the first things I did was go to the 'possible' realms and check if my names were available.
Amazingly, on my 'top choice' server (high-pop), the important one was (main) as were most others.
Another possible tip for switchers, although it's not quite so 'rookie' - make a DK. The 35 or so gold you have after the starting quests is *excellent* seed money if you know your way around the AH. I've got almost 5k gold now, just from that. Also, DKs are fantastic profession bots.
Sep 16th 2010 7:37PM Not that I know of.
I do try to contribute, have for a couple years. Basically once I realized 'oh this is a cool resource .. because and only because people like myself can contribute to it'. So I try to do my small part.
Sep 16th 2010 7:32PM That's handy!
Although I couldn't figure out how to restrict it to US servers only (or I suppose any other broad region).
Sep 13th 2010 6:15PM Avatars seem to have a file size limitation, it's either 5 or 4 KB. Perhaps that was the issue?
Obvs would be nice if that was indicated on the upload interface, of course!
Sep 11th 2010 5:08PM Totes agree on 'meal-y' being cringe-tastic.
About Scholo.. I used to want to pronounce it 'German-esque' (as I do speak a bit of German) but did later learn the pronunciation the way Blizz intended and so now use that one. Still feels weird that way, though.
Sep 9th 2010 1:34AM About xmutes -- MANY times while working on Darkmoon Faire rep (almost done making cards) had I wished for a no-cooldown on the primal/eternal Life transmute. Ugh!
Yes, especially the primal one seems ridiculous, especially considering that Eternals can now be purchased w/Frozen Orbs.
They could have alternatively made Primals purchasable with Primal Nether or something like that.
Some great ideas mentioned here btw.
Sep 1st 2010 5:25AM Fun post, I like thinking about this kind of stuff for some reason. Classifying and labeling, even though I can never quite put myself into a neat box :D
Several months ago I thought of myself simply as 'Business Casual'. Similar I guess to 'Serious Casual', whatever that may mean, which to me was essentially *not* sweatpants/sloppy casual. But not khaki/button-down casual, either (yawn). More like expensive jeans/cool t-shirt/killer shoes casual, I guess :p Casual-Friday Upscale/Hip 3 Martini Lunch Casual?
Anyway, that component of the 'Casual' still remains, however now if I had to label myself it would be Time-Crunched Serious Casual Technical Closet-Competitive. Yeeahh. ^.^
Aug 29th 2010 5:05PM Imp Conc Aura is really more of a PvP talent than a PvE talent (although I still see many Holydins with it...).
Also, the increased healing from Imp Dev Aura does NOT stack with a Tree Druid's buff. So, consider *that* if you're thinking of putting points into it.
Best Aura choice generally would be something to use your Aura Mastery with.
