May 9th 2011 10:48AM "It becomes me vs. the rest of my group at the same time that it is the group vs. the monsters."

Well said: this is a great write-up and says a lot about the state of play in the game at the moment. I just started leveling a tankadin this week. And this is exactly the experience I've been having even at low levels. At the moment I can be patient and explain things - which has worked so far - but all the way to 85 and beyond?!

But beyond the issue of whether your pug-mates understand an encounter, their role and abilities, your role and abilities - one of the main issues is that because of the random nature of the group there is no accountability: no incentive for people to behave with respect to their fellow players.

"But some of you guys are buzzkills, racists, braggarts, or inept. Some of you are even all of those things at once"

This states the case so well and impact on all of us, whether we're tanks, healers or dps. I don't like the random pugs in any role at the moment. At least as a tank my queues are short and I can drop group after expressing my distaste and get into another group soon enough. But as a tank you have to lead from the front and leading a group of inept braggarts is no fun.

Rossi, your post should be required reading for anyone purchasing the game.

Alter-Ego: Looking at the state of the game {Massively}

Apr 16th 2011 9:23PM Interesting write-up. I really enjoy this game but there are various problems, as you point out. For me, the main issue is the low server population. I live in Australia - I don't know how large (or small) the player-base is here but we're no doubt split across all the US servers. Just designating one as 'Oceanic' might help. Prime-time in Australia (evenings) is the middle of the night in the US and there's almost no one else online - let alone a thriving league community. I queued for three hours on Friday night without a single instance popping. However, I played again early on Saturday morning (Friday night US time) and things were better - a sense that this was an MMO and a couple of Alert runs. Still, things are significantly quieter since the free month subscriptions expired, whatever time of day you play. While a fun game, it's currently difficult for me to recommend as an MMO.

Blood Sport: A guide to PvP keybinding {WoW}

Feb 23rd 2011 5:03AM This is a great post - very useful indeed. For an future topic, would you have any advice on targeting and target-switching - particularly in battlegrounds? When using the mouse to move and turn, what's the best way to target? Tab-targeting seems to have a wicked sense of humour and just loves to target hunter pets, elementals, and totems...
