Mar 4th 2010 9:59AM I'd like to emphasize what Ozzard said.
When my guildies decided they wanted to go offspec/alt tank, I'd simply go in to heroics with them as a cat form in bear gear. My DPS was low but respectable, and it really gave the new tank confidence to just get in there and do it, because if something went terribly wrong, I could save a wipe and thus save him from any PuGged in ire.
Feb 25th 2010 10:48AM And what about those people that run with close friends/guildies and actually like the idea of using their alts for those extra chances that at least someone you know will have that fictitious rocket mount?
I like the string of alts. It's exciting to see the loot drop, and it's exciting to see who will win it. Killing a boss once per toon is very drab by comparison.
This is great for those who are loners/guildless. It's bad for those like me.

Please pardon the copy/paste from the article:
"Assume that the opponents share similar levels, health pools and comparative overall damage output."
- Arcane Barrage
- Arcane Volley
- Enraged Assault
- Planar Anomalies
- Planar Shift
NO FIRE, ffs...
Feb 10th 2010 12:57PM DnD is an important part of non-blood AoE DPS, and if used correctly, doesn't cause threat issues.
However, it is very important to know when it's appropriate to drop (i.e. NOT at the beginning of your rotation).
Feb 10th 2010 12:34PM Can't we just extend this without generalizing a specific group of people and say:
"when in a group of people, don't be an asshole..."
Feb 10th 2010 12:26PM As a tank, I usually mark at least one mob in trash packs. My idea here is: single target that mob, then after it's dead I should have enough aggro on the rest for you to do whatever you want.
If I don't mark any mobs, I'm sending a signal: "I'll hold aggro on everything. I'd appreciate if you were using /assist, but I'll forgive you if you don't" and I'll do everything I can to make sure those mobs don't hit anyone else.
If I DO mark a mob, and a DPS pulls aggro on a non-marked mob, then they get to tank it...even if my taunt is off cooldown.
