Ol' Grumpy and the specter of pointless elitism {WoW}

Feb 2nd 2012 7:49PM Fantastic article, Mr. Rossi.

Recently I've been so fortunate in five mans. Mage's with legendary weapons that while not talkative mow all the mobs down while my least geared alt tries to get a hit in edgeways. Super nice shadow priests that volunteer to the flamecores and hourglass so that the hunter that hasn't done the instance before can focus on the other mechanics (and can watch the priest to see how the others are handled if he gets a chance).

I don't know when spectre became specter, but several sources assures me that it has. I really enjoyed the language and pace of the article, it made me laugh out loud several times. I even read it to my wife in my best 'Ol Gumpy voice too.

Is it time to kill the global cooldown? {WoW}

Nov 15th 2011 5:44PM I just recently dusted off the DPS offspec for my DK, and went back to unholy. I really noticed the difference of the 1 second GCD compared to other classes. I am mashing more buttons than I do on my assassination rogue since energy pooling leaves me far less GCD capped, and it's one of the reasons I prefer tanking on my DK over DPSing since Wrath.

If the GCD were to be removed, additional thought to how resources are accumulated is required, so there's interesting choices to be made rather than faster and faster button mashing. Even more thought would be required if resources (like energy / rune refresh rate) scale with stats (like haste)... at the end of an expansion, it would be no fun to have a sunwell radiance effect for resources so everyone didn't get carpal tunnel syndrome.

Totem Talk: Resto shaman advice for healing groups, DK tanks, and heroic instances {WoW}

Nov 8th 2011 4:10PM Fantastic Q&A. Clearly the question askers are thrilled at getting great answers. After reading this I'm now itching to start leveling my little shaman again.

Shifting Perspectives: Comparing T12 boomkin gear against T11 {WoW}

Aug 20th 2011 1:31AM @Tyler

No, I understood your point, and your analysis is good. I was pretty tempered using the phrase 'a little negative'. I was just framing that same analysis in a more positive way.

Shifting Perspectives: Comparing T12 boomkin gear against T11 {WoW}

Aug 19th 2011 8:15PM This. After playing a boomkin at 85 recently, the constant articles about Eclipse (which is fair enough since that's what boomkins are about) come off as a little too negative.

Yes, it's not simple to game Eclipse, but the payoff is the best AoE in the game. That's a lot of fun for me. You don't need to add MORE to the best AoE in the game, so it's not surprising that the T12 bonuses are geared towards single target DPS. Can't we just be glad that the 4 piece gets us back to solar quicker? With all the gaming for AoE, isn't it nice that Blizzard is offering something that enhances and encourages the single target rotation?

Patch 4.1: Blizzard unveils dungeon finder Call to Arms {WoW}

Apr 7th 2011 3:58AM While I'm a fan of McCurley, a worrying trend is emerging. I can tell if an article is written by him just from the over the top superlatives for Blizzards work. I know you're a excitable guy, but some semblace of balance, please.

Gold Capped: The Undermine Journal may have to close down {WoW}

Dec 10th 2010 5:59PM Last time I looked at the site, Dath'Remar wasn't implemented, so I didn't stay long. Visiting it again, I'm already hooked. Being able to have all the data behind the trends really does inspire confidence in purchasing.

Dec 10th 2010 4:25PM Before they implemented this (XML feel of AH pricing) functionality themselves, I'd prefer them to remove the limitation of only seeing 50 mails in your mail box at a time. I think 1000 would be a better limit. That way, I can see just how many of those glyphs sold over night on the mobile AH interface.
