Jan 5th 2010 12:35AM I never saw someone twice that I know of before today.
I was in HoR with a tank. Couple of hours later, I landed in CoS and he was there again. We had a good laugh about it.
Jan 5th 2010 12:24AM I got in HoR on my Holy Paladin today. I told the group right off to kick me if they wanted cause I had no experience in healing in there. They decided to try. We got as far as Round 9 after three or four wipes. I decided to leave gracefully.
A short while later, I hit the finder again and got ... HoR. I apologized to the group right at the beginning and left.
I ended up doing FoS, PoS, and ToC today along with some others. But HoR I do not want to get again for a while.
Dec 30th 2009 2:18PM As someone who has a Female Draenei Death Knight, a Female Draenei Priest, and is leveling a Female Draenei Mage, I concur. The Human and Night Elf models I use aren't because I thought they were great, but I because they bothered me the least. After a year, I still think my Human Paladin has a goofy expression on his face. I have taken my Night Elf Druid to the Barber Shop twice now and finally have a look I think I can stand - I would have preferred a Draenei for that one, too, but of course, that isn't an option. My Shaman is male mainly because I started the characters ages ago and I really like the name I chose for him and thinks it works better on a male character.
Dec 23rd 2009 10:26AM I went from 29-31 on my Resto Druid running GY over and over again. I thought it was great. In and Out in like 10 minutes as long as no one wanders away from the group. The loot isn't great but the blue reward can be (although I do get tired of gloves with +attack).
Dec 23rd 2009 10:17AM Three stories for this week...
Nexus on my Holy Paladin: I came in just after they wiped on Telesta. They blamed the Priest but I still have ton wonder if it wasn't the Paladin Tank who would not shut up in party chat. Either way, we finished without an issue, except that I was glad I could drop group at the end.
VH on my Shadow Priest: My computer bsod'ed on wave 11 which meant I missed the group wipe on Xevozz. As it turned out, the Paladin tanking had apparently never done it before. We regrouped, positioned him a bit better the second time around, and took him down. Seeing as how I did the exact same thing on my DK once, I had no reason to complain. Both the Tank and Resto Druid were apologetic at the end but I told them from my perspective they did fine.
Gnomeregan on my lvl23 Resto Shaman: Fury Warrior - Two-Hander - no idea what he was doing and he told us this his first character. After multiple issues and offering him some helpful suggestions aka Spec Protection and get a Shield, I consented to kicking him the third time it came up.
The Nexus one did the best job as a tank, but I would rather run with the VH one any day.
Dec 21st 2009 10:13AM I was a huge fan of Ultima in the 80s and 90s, especially V and VI. So when Ultima Online was in beta, I downloaded the Beta and tried it. I think I lasted 5 minutes before someone killed my character and I lost all my starting gear. I didn't see the appeal. After that, I pretty much consciously ignored the whole MMO genre. I did once have a chance to see some gameplay right around the time of BC, but what I realize now must have been dueling in Goldshire didn't interest me at all.
Until 2008. After a couple of years of listening to Veronica Belmont talk about WoW on Buzz Out Loud. And got Tom Merritt playing it. And then a year ago this week, Tom appeared on ExtraLifeRadio and I decided after listening to download the Beta. I didn't know what realm or class to pick so I rolled a Human Paladin on Auchindoun. I got him to 15 after numerous mistakes only to realize that there was no point in being on that realm. At that point: I had to choose between AIE and the Horde or the Alliance Guild that some real life friends had started. I chose my friend, although I do have a couple of alts in AIE now.
And I got to meet Tom and Veronica at Dragoncon this year.
Dec 19th 2009 5:13PM A week ago, I was perfectly willing to heal any Heroic short of ToC because while I was mostly in lvl200 blues and a very few rep purples. Then I bought the lvl245 shoulders. I entered the random H queue and ended up in FoS. It was a fantastic group though and we didn't have much difficulty. A week later, I have much better gear (having farmed N FoS some and spent some badges). Ended up in FoS again. And while we were successful again, it was much more of a struggle. It really is about the sum total of the group and not just any one person.
One thing though: I have yet to turn in the quest from PoS after completing it. That way I don't have to worry about getting tossed into HoR H. That I am not ready to attempt just yet.
Dec 18th 2009 3:29PM It is time to revise the Top 10 biggest stories of the year and add this to the list.
I am shocked and saddened. The site and the podcast will just not be the same.
Dec 17th 2009 12:58AM I had been queuing my Paladin as Holy because I was pretty sure it wouldn't put me in one of the new dungeons. After a very successful UK run, I found myself in FoS and scared to death. Then running Normals I ended up in ToC (which definitely was not my first choice). I still have some blue items on but I bought the lvl245 badge shoulders and that seems to have been the dividing line. One trick though: I haven't turned in the quest to Jaina yet so I don't have to worry about PoS or HoR just yet.
The most interesting site I have seen: running BFD on my lvl23 Heirloom-wearing mage and having a warrior in a combination of greens, whites and grays who tanked everything without difficulty. Runner-up: the low level dwarf paladin who used a two-handed spear with no shield.
