Roadmap to Cataclysm zone overhauls {WoW}

Nov 5th 2009 9:30PM This has been out there for awhile actually. I seem to remember seeing this from a Blizzcon gallery posted on this site during Blizzcon or right afterwards. In any case, thanks for posting it again.

WoW Moviewatch: Dwarven Rifle Squad {WoW}

Oct 22nd 2009 3:10PM Best guild recruitment video ... ever.

Course, I'll admit I'm tad biased since I play a Dwarf hunter.

"This is my boomstick!"

Breakfast Topic: They just don't get it... {WoW}

Oct 19th 2009 12:44PM My favorite in the game is the reference to Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' in Azuremyst Isle where the Broken cook there says "How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your fish?" which is a reference of the school master in the song ("How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?")

Patch 3.2.2 PTR: Another Beast Within change {WoW}

Sep 17th 2009 12:07PM Ghostcrawler's rationale on the forum for the change was that the developer's didn't like seeing one spell that gives out both offensive and defensive bonuses. They want to push this as more of a defensive bonus. However, this makes no sense as the talent essentially stays the same with only a shorter duration and an additional CC removal ability added. It is still an offensive ability for pve and and a defensive ability for pvp.

No matter how it's spun, this is a nerf at the moment. With the shorter duration it will lower a BM hunter's dps in pve (the 10% passive buff doesn't make up the difference) and in pvp it's obvious that this hurts since it lowers the amount of time a hunter can dish out damage without worry of CC. Our ability in pvp is already hampered by the fact that we cannot do serious damage while on the move.

Ghostcrawler staked his reputation last year on improving hunter representation in pvp. I don't see how this helps that situation. And the 10% passive buff only gets us back to where BM hunters were before patch 3.1 for pve.

Breakfast Topic: The trouble with instance servers {WoW}

Sep 2nd 2009 12:52PM The door boss has been an enormous problem on my server for several months. The worst part of all is this was totally self-inflicted by Blizzard and could have been avoided. Reports of the problem started as far back as last Oct. I started experiencing it last Dec. If they were near capacity at the end of BC, then it should have been a given that WOLTK would put them over capacity. Yet it took 10+ months for a final solution. In addition, they knew that patch 3.2 would make things worse and even a blue post to that effect was made on the forums and yet they still dropped patch 3.2 right in the middle of the server fix. That patch should have been delayed a month so the servers could be reconfigured. And the initial customer service responses was very lackluster; remembering the server problems in 2005 (check out some of Mike Morhaime's posts in the archives) gives a stark comparison. Blizzard is a great company but how this was handled by management gives one pause.

Scheduled maintenance for Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 {WoW}

Sep 1st 2009 3:44AM Believe me if it was only a few minutes it would not be a big deal. But on my server it was an enormous issue and a daily topic in trade chat the last 2-3 months. Instances were basically closed down no matter whether it was 10AM, 10PM or 2 AM. You could spend anywhere from 20-30 minutes to hours trying to get into an instance. Most times the groups would fall apart before you could get into the instance. I'll be wildly happy when this is fixed.

Cataclysm Worgen and Goblin starter zone maps {WoW}

Aug 31st 2009 2:54PM These appear to be very early build maps. Many locations are unnamed or given generic names like "Orc Camp" for instance. Notice how the Goblin starting area is very close to another larger piece of land so there must be another island zone right next door. I'm sure they'll be much more fleshed out at a later date. However, I'm a bit concerned about the look of the Gilneas map - it doesn't seem to reflect the actual shape of Gilneas which runs primarily north and south - perhaps it's only one zone of greater Gilneas since the Greymane wall doesn't really seem to be shown either (the King's and Queen's gate hardly seem likely to be the entirety of the whole wall). I certainly hope that's not supposed to be all of Gilneas.

BlizzCon 2009: Cataclysm - Zones video {WoW}

Aug 21st 2009 7:15PM Yeah, I agree. Ashenvale has always been one of my favorite zones. Horde is gonna pay dearly if what it looks like may have happened and Garrosh has overrun the Sentinels.

Creative posts World of Warcraft teaser {WoW}

Aug 17th 2009 6:09PM Sorry, that should read "Is it me or does the Horde symbol seem fractured ..."

Creative posts World of Warcraft teaser {WoW}

Aug 17th 2009 6:06PM Hmmm. Is it me or does the Horde seem fractured? Subtle graphic hint relating to the leaked info maybe?
