Sep 28th 2009 2:28PM This Arch Cleric idea is pretty good.
Before we had any real details about Cataclysm outside of goblins being a playable race, I was hoping for the possibility of a Tinker class (like in the pen and paper WOW). Maybe as a hybrid class who can stand back and blast at enemies with lazers and bombs, run up and smack enemies around in a goblin shredder, or who can whip up gizmos that can heal and rez an ally (like the gnomish army knife). They could have their own Jeeves or harvest golem running around as a combat pet.
Such a class might cover a lot of the same ground as engineering, but it could be made unique enough. Maybe instead of mana they could have different materials that power their spells, sort of like runes. Things like "Fuel cells" and "blasting powder" instead of the blood/frost/unholy runes. Instead of how RP fills up during combat, it works like energy and fills up when the character isnt fighting. The bar will decrease as the the Tinker uses the materials in its spells, and can be refilled quickly again with "Reach into toolbox", sort of like Aspect of the Viper.
Speaking of Hunter aspects, how about a version of Cheetah where the tinker throws on a pair of rocket boots?
The whole steampunk theme of gnomes and goblins is something that sets WoW apart from a lot of other fantasy based games. Its too bad blizzard doesn't play off that a little more.
Jul 22nd 2009 2:06PM Let's just hope they go with some good CG stuff so we don't end up with another one of these: http://kotaku.com/gaming/world-of-warcraft/world-of-warcraft-movie-in-development-152072.php
