Aug 9th 2011 8:34PM (sorry ment to say) "I freely admis that its entirely posible that Bliz has. . .
Aug 9th 2011 8:32PM Zabb. Get a grip on reality please. Bliz has never. Ever. Copyrwrited the patches.
They have done this before for Cataclysm and before that Wrath and before that BC.
They are doing this before Blizzcon because they want the process complet and out of the way before Blizcon.
Right now the most likely explination is that its going to be a major Vidio game release from Bliz. and its going to be discussed officialy at Blizzcon.
Its entirely posible that Bliz has decided to go Expansion 4.3 then (2012) 4.4 then 4.5 then (in 2013) 4.6 then 4.7 then (in 2014) 4.8 then 4.9 (which means that the next actual "expansion" will be 2014)
Aug 9th 2011 1:59PM Ive played EvE for several years now, frankly theres no learning curve with EVE.
What EvE has is a Tedium curve from hell. it takes literaly months (even WITH the learning skills replaced by a flat stat and skill grant, and noone got the skillpoint grant who had not first learned the old learning skills) of defacto doing nothing to realy earn the "skills" of the game to get the skills you need to properly fit and fly what you want to fly, they are bascicaly handed to you over time. and thanks to plex you dont even need to grind anything to get the skills.
Aug 8th 2011 10:10PM Counter argument
EvE online has a defacto legal system for people to buy the ingame gold for "CCP Credits"
Player A Buys PLEX(worth 30 days game time) from CCP for Real money
Player A then lists PLEX in the ingame market for ISK (the ingame currency, not the Icelandic Kroner that, ironicaly, is also known as ISK) In fact on Dec of 2010 they admitted that the plex accounted for ~25% of the ISK sales that month
Player B then buys Plex from the ingame market
In theory Player B can use it to get 30 more days of ingame time. . . . but the reality is that more plex are bought from CCP than actualy used, because every now and then Plex goes through a buble economy where less experienced players are basicaly succered into thinking that the price of plex ingame is set to go WAY Up. . . and theres enough new suckers comeing in who did not know about the last bubble for it to work. . . before the people who were buying up though low sell orders suddenly flood the market with all the Plex they were buying earlyer on low end region wide buy orders.
Did this solve the Botting and hacking problem?
Not by a longshot. in fact one of the headakes CCP has are all the stolen credit and debit cards used to buy plex by the bots and hackers who are in the grey market.
Aug 7th 2011 8:23PM Adding a race means you have to go back and tweek all the armors that said race can wear, and adds the same problem to all future races
Adding in both a horde and an aliance race. . . adds to that problem
Adding a class . . . well techicaly your actualy adding in three classes when you do that thanks to the whole talent tree mess they made for themselves.
never mind the other problem they have with trying to balance the bloody races out. im suprised they have not thrown in the towel on that and said "BLEEP! ok Anyone can be Any race in any faction!
Aug 7th 2011 8:10PM POS AM, 10Q and 10Q/A fileings, 424As 40Fs and so on and on
in there you occasionaly find tidbits like
"Expansions to existing Virtual Goods Stores and auction house for upcomeing mmo"
"Existing virual sales modle for existing mmo is not transferable to upcomeing project"(I suspect this was in referance to DIII)
Upcomeing olg virtual market may be unique to it. (DIII)
upcomeing mmo developers plan to "obsolete" 3rd party market. (editorial note, good luck with that unless you plan to allow no player to player trading whatsoever)
"additional services, fees, and subscription enhancments are in planing or development"
"Current and ongoing plans for the 2 follow up expansions of World of Warcraft"
"only 2 expansions in planing or develpment for ongoing mog" (that was back when Cataclysm was still being developed and in no way means that whatever it is is the last one, they have long said that they realy only have 2 expansions that they work on at any given time, the current one and the next one)
Aug 6th 2011 12:48PM Bascialy I kind of expect a quest hub + new Raid + plus a 5 man or maybee some updated old world man dungeons and an updated Hollows end...
If it launches pre october that is.
Aug 4th 2011 12:36PM There realy is not mutch to say about it. They had reasons for fileing it, there going to talk about it soon enough. and odds are that 99% of anything we guess about it right now will be dead wrong.
and if you realy wanted to know whats going on with Bliz you would have figured it out by now just from there other fileings and statments. They are going to go on making WoW for the forseable future.
As for a serious question, the impresion I have is that they are wanting to move to a "more balanced" release process (IE a slightly smaller "Big release" followed by more frequent slightly larger "content patches") or is that more or less a perpetual wish on there part?
Aug 1st 2011 3:32PM Simple solution to the fear of "Ebay Idiots" Dont pug outside of your guild.
Aug 1st 2011 2:22PM After doing a lot of diging (I hate the US tax code) from what I understand the more or less official policy of the US IRS is that the money does not actualy exist until you withdraw it. Part of the reason is that if the IRS considers it income, then any and all subscription fees and charges are expenses
Blizzards theory seems to be to combine the Plex, SonyExchange, and the Linen aproach. give a hard code(Plex) way to say "its all fees therefore we get the tax burden not the players"
and the "if you honestly want to make mony doing this crap here is how you do it"
