Aug 9th 2011 12:01PM I'm sorry the screen-cap didn't grab the reply. The point still remains though.
As I don't want this to turn into a pissing contest, my view on self-entitled puggers is that just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Yes, more often than not others have to deal with it, but it's annoying when you wait in a queue for some length just to have your healer show up as a Ret Pally with enough mana to survive a single trash pull. Or for your Tank to be a resto druid with virtually no stamina.
I'm sure there's a dozen holes that could be punched in these comparisons, and who knows if it could be implemented. It was just one of my frustrations that happened to coincide with the theme of this article.
Aug 9th 2011 11:35AM Yeah, the issue was in regards to players focusing on roles in which their specs do not allow. I can see this as being a smaller issue 1-30, but when Dual-spec becomes available to all, it's just mind numbing to see a Ret Pally spec'd and queued as a Tank, especially if their secondary is Holy.
It's not as if players go into a rage mode and leave, but I'm sure I"m not the only one who grumbles when a Shadow priest says they can keep the group healed, or when a Balance druid says they can toss up some HoT's in between DPS'ing when flagged as the healer, especially in the later dungeons of Old World content.
Aug 9th 2011 8:23AM I can see the point, but you can solo DPS as virtually any spec at this point. I simply find it a little zany that the current mechanics allow someone to queue up as a Tank or Healer without having that spec as a primary or a secondary.
Even if this was a feature put in at Level 30+ when Dual-Spec becomes an option.
I say this because Blizzard has gone to great lengths with the dungeon tool, putting in iLvl checks, even trying to sort out party configurations based on armor class.
Aug 9th 2011 8:09AM If I'm on a DPS class I just bite the bullet. If I'm playing a healer / tank alt, I don't usually have as much an issue, as I can "Control" the flow of the party by my actions.
I ran into something like this just last night. One of the DPS (Paladin) was in Holy Spec, queued and flagged as DPS, but using a Sword and Shield to melee.
I understand that Blizzard has iLevel restrictions on later dungeons, but why is it that specific classes can LFG with specs they just don't have? A Holy only spec Pally shouldn't be able to queue as DPS, and a Resto / Balance dual-spec Druid shouldn't be able to queue as a tank. I realize in some cases certain mixes can do the other at an okay performance level, but the 1-80 range seems like the time people should be learning their class roles, not putting the rest of us through a rolling tutorial. :(
Apr 12th 2011 11:00AM Oddly enough I found myself in this same scenario, only now I'm trying to compensate and it's literally eating through my funds.
While I love to PvP, I've found myself replacing all my quest gear with PvP gear simply to have enough health and mana not to look like a scrub when I queue. Of course, having insane amount of resil and no spirit on my Resto-Shammy doesn't solve this scenario. So I started hunting for the best BoE gear gold could buy on the AH.
Now I've got a ton of great i359 purples, no faction rep, and no dungeon experience. What's worse now is that I have the stats to support running heroics, but no actual runs to back that up. Makes me wish I had all my greens back so I could at least use the "I just dinged!" excuse. :(
Mar 22nd 2011 8:39AM I've yet to run through these since my return to the game, and now I'm not sure I even want to after reading these comments. :)
Nov 9th 2010 7:24AM Right after reading this article another 120 or so megs of data popped up for me on the launcher. Exciting to see new information and data flowing in at a steady pace before launch.
