Jan 12th 2011 11:19AM I use a couple of macros for bar compression and convenience, that some might find useful.
One is a 'toggle' macro I found on the web that was originally intended for binding multiple mounts to a single button, but it works easily for other things as well!
As an example, the commonly used Path of Frost. Ever had people ask you to please turn it off (for whatever reason) and you have to go hunting for the buff to click it off?
#showtooltip Path of Frost
/use [button:1] Path of Frost
/cancelaura [button:2] Path of Frost
Left mouse click on the button to turn it on. Right mouse click to turn it off. This can be expanded to other mouse buttons (middle button is 3, etc), and can be used for other things, such as say, dropping lichborne quickly, or anything else that's a buff. You can, of course, substitute mount names instead:
#showtooltip Swift Brown Steed
/use [button:1] Swift Brown Steed
/use [button:2] Golden Gryphon
As an example. Trinkets, abilities you want to use quickly in succession (such as Blood Tap followed by Rune Tap), etc, are also candidates. Granted this isn't as 'good' as using pure keybinds for everything, but for those more comfortable with a blend of keyboard and button clicks, this might be useful.
Another thing I do for increased visibility is to use macros simply to change an icon. It's nothing fancy, but changing the button for, say, Raise Ally, to something different, helps me alot (since Raise Ally and Raise Dead have almost identical icons). Again, this isn't just for Death Knights.
Also, as someone with a Mage main, please stop opening a PvP fight with Death Grip, especially when said target has clearly not been in combat for a good couple minutes. You'll thank me later. And I'll thank you for a harder fight. :D
Hope these were helpful.
Jan 11th 2011 10:29AM Personally, the only thing I dislike about Outland is the knowledge that nine times out of ten, my random dungeon groups will be DK-heavy. And not the kind of Death Knights who know what they are doing, either (Hello, intellect-plate dual wielding unholy DK tank who tries to zerg dungeons as if he were in ICC gear). But this isn't the time or place to get into that. xD
Northrend, surprisingly, is what's giving me the 'eh...' feeling, not sure why though. I have a warlock at 75 who I haven't touched for ages, not counting leveling tailoring/enchanting.
Dec 23rd 2010 8:07AM A "preferred player" list similar to what some other multiplayer systems have, i.e. "would prefer to group with this person again".
Ignore works for cross-realm dungeons via the Dungeon Finder, which is essentially a "do not want to group with this person again" list, but we have nothing for when we run into someone totally awesome on a faraway realm.
Aside from RealID, and handing out your RealID to every person you'd like to run dungeons with again is not a good idea.
Dec 17th 2010 3:39PM And dwarven facial tattoos! Like the ones the Wildhammers have. :D We should get those.
Dec 17th 2010 9:13AM What's wrong with Hunter PvP? I haven't had a chance to PvP really except on my 55 priest.
Dec 17th 2010 9:09AM Okay, so I got cut off too. -sigh- Anyway. Was going to say that okay, so it's not some awesome game changing thing. But it's a fun toy that actually is more useful than some other engineering toys. And yeah, the cost per shot sounds bad right now, but if things go like they did for Wrath, then I'd assume obsidium will end up like cobalt did. i.e. common and inexpensive. It seems bad right now because everyone is burning obsidium to level their professions (JC, BS, Engineering). When the initial rush thins out, I'd assume it'll get better.
Unless Blizzard nerfs the node spawns or something. -shifty look-
Dec 17th 2010 8:48AM My first character was Alliance, because the friend that got me into the game was also Alliance. By the time I got fully into the game, changing my focus over to Horde just...didn't seem like an option. Alliance feels like home for me. Nowadays I have a few Horde characters because I have friends on both sides (and my sister is Horde! Sibling rivalry to the next level!), and it's fun, but I don't think it will ever feel like home to me, more like a vacation.
As for race? I go my own way with that, and none of my friends have ever tried to convince me to play a certain race or another (we all play what we like, and thanks to RealID we can keep in touch easily with alts across realms, since some of us have run out of character slots on our main realm). Like a previous poster, I choose race more for aesthetic reasons (animations are a big factor for me.).
Dec 16th 2010 7:55PM I remember that big group of sheep on that path in the Worgen starting areas. Normally I'm one to ignore critters and leave them be (unless they're roaches), but...the guild achievement for critter genocide has made me a bad person. =( I caught myself cackling as I thunderclapped that group, then did it again after they respawned.
I'm a monster.
