Oct 7th 2011 5:39PM Sure it does. Mastery is supposed to be a useful stat for all classes and specs, so that's really not how Blizzard is going to set the flag. Tank gear will have some combination of mastery, dodge, and parry, while dps gear will have some combination of mastery, hit, crit, and haste. You're really overthinking this. Granted, in some cases, a piece of dps plate might be an upgrade for a tank, or vice versa, but that just means they will have a preference of non-plate wearing dps, plate wearing dps will still have the preference.
Regarding spirit leather and chain, it's an issue now that outside of tier, healer and caster dps use the same gear within their classes. There's not really a good way of solving that dilemma short of creating caster mail/leather with hit and redesigning the caster dps trees to not allow them to convert spirit to hit which I don't think anybody really wants.
Again, this is an incremental improvement that solves a lot of loot issues. It doesn't solve them all, but there's really no way to solve them all, certainly not without radical changes to the game. Don't let the good be the enemy of the perfect.
Oct 7th 2011 4:08PM When 4.3 hits doesn't the need for Blood DK hit and expertise go away since Death Strike heals regardless of whether or not it hits?
Oct 7th 2011 4:02PM Looks like I'm wrong about resto/boomkin not being able to roll on feral gear, so Bears get the same shaft they always got.
Oct 7th 2011 3:59PM NVM, I read it wrong. Bear tanks still get the same pointy shaft they always got.
Oct 7th 2011 3:57PM Even bear tanks get something, no more resto/boomkin druids rolling on their gear, which they can do now.
Oct 7th 2011 3:48PM But it's already a problem. Short of creating a separate leather tanking set, there really isn't a solution. But on the plus side, now resto & boomkin druids won't be able to need on your gear (which they can now), so even feral tanks get some benefit.
Oct 7th 2011 3:46PM Well, that creates its own problems. Now I can't DE or vendor gear that I've gotten a legitimate upgrade for. This is a good solid solution to a legitimate problem. I think Blizzard should be commended for it but, judging from the comments a lot of people want to let perfect be the enemy of good, which is a good way to make sure nothing ever gets resolved.
Oct 7th 2011 3:35PM I agree. Yeah, it's not a 100% solution, but it's a good solid 80%, which is about the best you can expect.
Oct 4th 2011 7:51PM I don't think it's that they're making the content easier (no nerfs were mentioned), only recognizing that the instances are too long and nobody will want to run them when you can get 150 VP from all heroics now (and pretty new gear from the new ones). Other than the dragonhawk boss and the trash leading up to him, all the fights are pretty easy at current gear levels.
