Jun 11th 2010 8:23AM There is something nobody has seemed to notice yet. Look at STATIC SHOCK. Read it and then read it again!!!!!
Once less thing we have get carpal over! (unless it's an AoE fight)
Apr 3rd 2010 9:00AM I'm surprised you didn't metion popup messsages. They are like an enhancement for boss mods. People tend to ignore boss mods after a while because you get spammed with so much information that doesn't require you to act. But when that happens and it is your turn you don't realize it sometimes. Popupmessages prevents that. WWhenever your name is fully typed out in a chat (you can select different panes) it will put a message different form any other type of message in the game, right in the middle of your screen, like an overlay. So say you the the message that you are being targeted by a nuke and you happen to be tunneling the boss like a baddie, prat saves your butt and shows a message that you could never miss.
Feb 22nd 2010 9:15AM I've been using SAA for as long as I've been playing an enhancement shaman. All of ~30 days total played time (/played) lawl. But I've come to almost rely on it. And while I love the mod, I hate my reliance on it. It's kinda makes me feel like a cheater using a mod to tell me something my brain should be able to figure out just by looking at the power aura visuals I have set up. However, there are a couple things I feel are being mis noted about it
"One thing to note, while the player is on global cooldown (GCD) the frame will be blank. Only when the GCD clears does the next spell in the priority queue pop up."
That is incorrect. When the GCD is up it (if setup) will show you a counter visual counter, just like your keybinds do. A shadow that clears as the GCD counts down. And the frame is only blank when there is no spell to cast within the specified amount of time that is set. I believe it is default .5 secs.
So say you just started your rotation and everything is off CD, and your priority is SS, ES, LL. Your frame will show SS then go into GCD mode while showing ES as the next thing to press. When you get the ES off then it shows LL while the GCD is clearing. Once that is pressed it will show nothing until an ability comes off CD.
But anyway. After reading this article and thinking about how my UI is setup I think I may uninstall it all together, and update my power auras a little bit. with power auras you can see the actual CDs of the abilities just like omni CC (or SAA bars) and it allows you to mentally prep WAY in advance, unlike SAA (priorty frame) where you are reacting more or less. As I've gotten better at enhance I've noticed how to get even better. Which is to tighten my rotation. Being a human being SAA has a limit on how much it can help you with your rotation (priority que, chill out). But having something that warns you in advance, such as the bars from SAA, power auras, or Omni CC, allows you to be ready and maximize your GCDs. But out of those three choices I'm thinking power auras is my best bet.
Feb 19th 2010 9:18AM I don't know for sure, just throwing out soem benefit of the doubt here. I do not think this post was meant for people raiding in ICC gear or even high end ToC gear. For those type of shamans, Haste blows away SP, and while reading it I cringed a lot at it. But if you think about what the title of the article is and think about people just starting out their shamans, haste is a pretty poor stat for them. If you have no regen then haste is going to drain you dry. Also on low end gear you don't even have the SP to support your heals. And MP5 enchants are great(!) for mana regen at these levels. You just don't have the stats to support HASTE ZOMG MOAR HASTE.
But yes for people whose gear is providing a lot of SP, and crit (I'd never in restos current situation gem for crit), and even haste, haste is going to be your best gem to go with. I'm not touching those glyph choices. I don't like them period...
But anywho. Welcome to WoW.com. Looking forward to reading your column as I plan on actully sticking with this class for a while instead of trading off at the expansion as I done each time so far...
Feb 16th 2010 9:20AM 30 year old in mother's basement is a sterotpye of video gamers. But that's just not always true. Usually if you're of an older age in America, still living at home, there are reasons outside of just really loving your parents to be at home. I do agree though reading it doesn't seem to leave room for anything outsoide of the examples given, as reasons for him to be at home.
Feb 12th 2010 3:48PM Because Lightning Bolt scales better than Chain Lightning. So basicly, you're doing it wrong.
Feb 12th 2010 11:38AM The macro works fine, especially for a beginner which is where this is pointed. I agree with you that the timer is too long, but if you are beating on 1 target this macro does the job. Also he did state that there are different macros out there. If you don't like this particular one, use a different one...
I myself prefer just using the single buttons since I have the most control that way, and don't need to worry about where a macro is in it's sequence.
Feb 12th 2010 11:33AM ES-SS has EVERYTHING do do with the CD of SS.
As stated in the article if SS and ES are up and the SS debuff is up the ES would win. If SS and ES were up and there was no debuff then SS would win. ES_SS would not even come into play if SS was on CD because you would just just use ES regardles.......................................
Feb 12th 2010 10:26AM SS_0 = Stormstike while no debuff
MW5_LB (MW_5 LB in my post, whoops) = Lightning Bolt while Maelstrom weapon is at 5 stacks
FE = Fire elemntal
ES_SS = earth shock while Stormstrike debuff IS active
ES = earth shock
I think that's all of them
P.S. My reply was directed towards the writer, so I figured he knew the language. I know people are reading the comments, which is why I went ahead and made this post to clear that up. But not all comments are directed at getting attention from other people.
