Nov 18th 2009 2:54PM This is interesting, do they have an achievement for beating a boss with a certain iLevel of gear ala starcaller?
Nov 16th 2009 2:48AM It's hard to make sense of what you're saying, but no. Arena players already get their little reward. It would appeal to them as extra space or for displaying all their previous seasons armor sets. They could probably even put down their drakes for display.
Nov 16th 2009 2:46AM Star Wars Galaxies with player housing is one of the few things they got right. Player cities and economies were amazing.
Being able to display your old Armor sets, decorative vanity items that were mega rare and expensive, but didn't do anything except sit there, and even clever use of other items to transform houses into full sized Aquariums or Caves. Museums to the server and it's accomplishments, even full sized malls with Player run vendors selling their wares.
The thing that WoW will always lack is the space to put Houses. Star Wars galaxies was designed to not only have player houses but other player made structures for reasource gathering and bulk item production, so the planets (or zones) were made to fit large areas of these houses. WoW not only doesn't have that surface area required and even if it did, it would easily be filled up unless limited to one structure per person on the server. Not very interesting since I had 4-5 houses in SWG at any time.
Instancing the structures makes the whole thing feel cheap. You don't have to physically go to it out in the world like you did in SWG. It sounds like a pain but it wasn't just a closed off area. If you clicked twice and ended up in a place that resembled a house that you couldn't go in or out of, that people couldn't visit without knowing some arbitrary number or being invited personally.
Oct 29th 2009 5:28PM The server backend code isn't getting out, people reverse engineer and write their own.
This won't hold up, you don't infringe copyright when you make/use/playon/write a private server.
Oct 14th 2009 8:29AM Entirely New class, New role. And not only that I did it twice since WotLK
I went from Prot warrior at the end of BC who never DPS'd a day in his life, to Balance Druid who couldn't DPS to save his life, to Retribution paladin who is the top 3 DPS. I have to say, I still liked tanking the best.
I never thought I would ever switch off of my warrior, let alone go through two other classes.
Sep 5th 2009 8:57AM I forgot to mention that I was hesitant to the idea at first, until I went into Caverns of time and could finally see my boots. My shoulders and gear didn't look too tiny for my huge body, it all fit.
Ironic since I started off in my newb mindset that 'Draenei are bigger so they'll have bigger and more noticeable gear'
At this point I care about 99% of the stats on the gear, 1% of how it looks.
Sep 5th 2009 8:51AM Draenei Paladin. I'm retribution, but I'm sure for healing it's probably the best race you can go with holy with the extra hot. He's relatively new considering all my other characters, I think I started him in March of this year.
When the race change rolls around I'm going to seriously consider going human. The racials are just too good to pass up, the extra expertise and every man for himself are pretty big for both PVE and PVP.
My first character was a Draenei Warrior, I will not be changing him any time soon.
Aug 30th 2009 8:31AM Tier one paladin is terrible. You must be thinking of Tier two.
Aug 29th 2009 8:16AM I'm guessing it's going to be one of two things.
The first would be a misunderstanding ALA Ulduar was thought to be a Titan city, not housing an old god but instead full of secrets of the Titans.
The seconds would be some sort of shaping tool or a big 'reset' button for the planet, pulling the trigger of the old gods and rebooting the entire thing. It's probably there for convenience or remote activation if the titans get the Algalon signal.
