Best of 2006 nominations: Friend, Enemy, Instance {WoW}

Dec 14th 2006 1:37PM Best Enemy: Mor' Ladin in Raven Hill Cemetery
He appears from nowhere and just destroys you. Now with a couple of level 60's, everytime I pass Raven Hill I slip to to kill him just to even the score -- and I am still behind.

Best Instance: The best in my opinion is Zul'Gurub. a wide range of tactics required, good drops, nice scenery, a long sweet story line and completeable in 4 hours. I sure hope the BC brings us more instances like Zul'Gurub.

Breakfast Topic: So You Want To Be a Guildleader? {WoW}

Nov 28th 2006 1:53PM I have been a guild officer for the last 18 months. Some days are good other days not so good. Here are a few suggestions to minimize the bad days.

1. Be serious about recruiting. When you let a slug in they almost always cause you problems later.

2. Stay away from cliques within the guild. Find ways to intermix the nature groups with new people.

3. If you support a mix of time zones try to have at least one active officer in each time zone. Nothing festers faster that a problem that goes unresoved because of time zones.

4. Keep your guild meetings short and try to schedule a post meeting guild wide adventure at least once a month. Newbies love to get invited even if they know they will die immediately. They feel part of the energy when they can go.

5. Honor your members that do things for other members. It fosters a process of helping each other. A crafter who makes things for the guild for no profit -- give them a small reward at a meeting. Even a worthless shinny ring or necklace will become a cherished item when it is earned.

6. Do not allow flaming in your chat channels. It breeds like a cancer. It also pushes people to take sides even when they would prefer not it. Take those rants and arguments to /whisper.

7. As an officer of Guild leader stop looking for people screwing up. You will hear about it even if you do not witness it. Look for members doing something Right. Praise them and those behaviors will continue.

Yes, there are days, all I want to do is play on an alt, but most of the time being an officer is a mature, well organized guild is fun, rewarding and allows you the opportunity to enhance a lot of people WoW expereince.

Around Azeroth: Feralas waterfall {WoW}

Nov 20th 2006 11:24AM Interesting fact about these waterfalls. If you jump down or swim down the first drop to the rocks by the second drop there are two small pools at the bottom of thes two drops. In one of them you catch ocean fish -- Yellowtails, Squid, Bass, Firefins in the other you catch in-land fish -- Salmon, Nightfins, Redgills.

Just jump from one rock to another and you can catch just about every fish you can find in Feralas.

This is one of Trout's Secret Fishing spots.

Breakfast Topic: How to Farm Gold {WoW}

Nov 17th 2006 9:41AM With a name like Trout wadda you think!

Fishing can easily net 20-25 gold per hour. For me I fish for 90 minutes each Saturday and Sunday mornings. They catch goes into the AH by 6:00 AM Sat/Sun (I'm an Eastcoaster)when the AH is pretty depleted. By Sunday at dinner time my coffers are up by 60-75 gold.

If I am really cash short, I will head to the Alchemy Lab and make some Flasks.

In many sports it is said the best offense is a good defense, that is also true in WoW. If you want to have more gold in your pockets stay away from AH purchases.

Breakfast Topic: How Much Do You Tip? {WoW}

Nov 14th 2006 8:37AM I almost never give gold as a tip. I am an Alchemist, so depending on thier class and level I will make them a couple potions. I have never had anyone complain, so it seems to work for me.

Breakfast Topic: Grandma Loves Her World of Warcraft {WoW}

Nov 9th 2006 10:10AM I tried to time my reaching level 60 with my 60th birthday -- I missed by a week. That was in September of 2005. I am also a Guild officer.

Breakfast Topic: That Makes No Sense! {WoW}

Nov 2nd 2006 12:30PM I am still wondering how my fishing hook can snag a potion bottle. I also wonder why the Beast in Upper Black Rock Spire has all those playing card and I wonder if he plays cards with Drakk?

Breakfast Topic: Two Years In {WoW}

Nov 1st 2006 10:57AM I started Playing in December of 2004. I still enjoy my play and I am still finding new things to do and explore. Too many people judge thier success by the gear they have accumulated, but I think many of them miss the point that WoW has always tried to make.

WoW wants you to expereince the game. The trip is the reward not the collectible items. Every new content patch and expansion will bring newer and better collectibles, but your memories of the fun times and new friends will never be erased.

WoW thanks for 2 years! It has been a great trip and my son and I have shared memories that all the purple gear in the game combined will never replace.

I hope that Blizzard never forgets that focus and that 3 years from now we are celebrating the 5th anniversary.

Great Game & Great Memories!

The travails of traveling {WoW}

Oct 31st 2006 6:35AM While I'm flying is the only time I ever sort and re-organize my bags. Without flying time my bags would forever be a disaster.
