Apr 13th 2010 7:11PM Oh, and I forgot to add that you get more item points of the secondary stats (hit, crit, etc.) on an agility 1h than you would on a strength one anyway, due to the way item budgets work. And I suppose I should mention the caveat that the agility weapon will get a lot worse from an itemization standpoint when 4.0.whatever goes live, but you'll likely have to stick with them until you get something good from leveling.

Apr 13th 2010 7:07PM I wouldn't say that agility weapons totally lack useful stats. In fact, the only ones that you wouldn't see on a strength dps 1h (if any existed at high levels) are Agility and AP, which are less than ideal, but not really bad, exactly. It sounds like Blizzard is interested in adding them to the game for Cataclysm though, which would be very cool.

Apr 13th 2010 7:04PM It seems like just about every DK is rolling with the glyph these days, so it shouldn't be that much of an issue. Also, are you sure it won't let you use the ability and not apply the buff? I know when I do things with an enhancement shammy it refuses to apply my HoW buff (SoE with Enhancing Totems is better) but it still gives me 10 RP and starts the CD. I would imagine unglyphed vs. glyphed works the same way, but I'll admit I don't know for sure.

Apr 13th 2010 6:36PM They have specifically said that tanks and dps will NOT be wearing the same gear because there will be tank gear with avoidance stats on it. While I suspect that DPS gear will be more viable as a a threat option with the increased stam and lack of need for defense rating, tanks will still have gear designed specifically for them.

Apr 13th 2010 6:34PM WTB interrupt and gap closer. The lack of these is annoying in PvE and absolutely frustrating in PvP.
The other thing I want is a more interesting way to play retribution in raids. Using nearly the exact same ability priority for AoE and single target is bad and leads to everyone thinking we're OP. Presumably DS will be nerfed for single target damage (since WW was) and we will be getting something new to replace it, maybe some kind of strike that debuffs the target but shares a CD with DS?
Whatever happens, I would love to have more differentiation between good and bad paladins.

Apr 13th 2010 6:22PM You're looking for highest per-strike damage you can get, which means the slower, the better. In practical terms, you'll probably end up with 2.6 speed weapons, since that seems to be the slowest Blizzard likes to make drops these days.

Apr 13th 2010 6:20PM I strongly recommend Tuskarr's Vitality (or Cat's Swiftness if you want to go old school) over Icewalker. I know it doesn't look good on paper or spreadsheets, but a run speed increase is incredibly useful for any fight where you have to move but can't spend the runes to go into unholy and back into blood.
Also, I think it bears mentioning that even though Agility and AP are not great stats for DKs, there are going to be times when leather gear or Agility necks/rings/cloaks are going to be upgrades, simply because of item level differences and the superior total numbers of stats they get.

A well-geared holy paladin has a Holy Light cast time of 1-1.5 seconds without buffs from anyone else, and even though the spell costs about 1k mana, they have pools in excess of 30k (again without buffs) and can regen a quarter of that every minute just from Divine Plea, plus all the other mana regen you get in a raid (and from Illumination). So even though it seems like a slow, expensive heal, it's really not.

Apr 11th 2010 4:44PM Why on earth would they take plate away from most paladins? That would be COMPLETELY against the flavor of the class. I could maybe see them adding something so that the changes to encourage you to choose your own armor class don't hit holy paladins as hard and then make less or no SP plate, which would be more viable with the upcoming stat changes for Cataclysm then it is now. Even if they did that though, it would hurt the feel of the class some. The whole idea of a paladin is a heavily armored holy warrior, I seriously doubt we will ever lose the ability to wear plate.
