Breakfast Topic: The illusion of choice {WoW}

Jul 15th 2010 8:39AM Granted my class is one of the ones still in development (DK) but so far I like what I see. GC has said in the past that the old talent design system just had the illusion of choice. Right on live there are accepted specs for every class in the game, and deviating from that generally makes you a bad player.

Lichborne: The new blood tree in Cataclysm {WoW}

Jul 6th 2010 7:50PM I disagree that the other trees have nothing to offer blood. As things stand right now, I'm planning on running a spec similar to this:

Unholy has useful, if not strictly related to tanking, talents. This is in line with blizzard's design goals for cataclysm - that you have floater points that aren't strictly required for your spec. With the unholy subtree you get ghetto hysteria (unholy frenzy), better aoe tanking through reduced D&D cooldown, and 10s off your DG cooldown. Those are all, on paper, useful things to have as a tank. If D&D turns out to be less useful in cata I could see shifting its points into runic empowerment in the frost tree.

Also improved blood presence is in line with what blizzard has said they would do with regards to being uncrittable, that it would come through talents. I suspect the reason they didn't make it a baseline part of blood presence is to reduce the changes of DKs doing pvp in blood presence for some effectively free resilience.

Feb 10th 2010 2:09PM I just checked on the Anroid marketplace, I see the authenticator, and it's published by Blizzard Inc. Sweet, I've been waiting a long time for this. Giveaway: World of Warcraft Programming, 2nd Ed {WoW}
