Mar 6th 2012 2:08AM My main, Dethdoar, just kinda came-to-be from Death and some other toon names I had used. It's pronounced deth doh-ar.
All my ally toons names start with D and all my Horde toons start with N for some reason. I totally didn't plan it, at first, it was totally organic.
I just kinda put random syllables together until I get a sound I like, then try to type it into being on the character making screen.
Mar 2nd 2012 1:51PM I heard 90% of the cuts were not to developers. That still means some talent making the game left unwillingly.
Many big companies lose people through attrition aka they quit for another job, have kiddos or whatever. To force a big cut including some devs it means bad things ahead, OR that a shiny new MMO is close enough that they can reduce headcount during this gap between big releases.
Dont forget the no Blizzcon this year, so that was another cost-cutting move. Blizz is trying to spend less this year, knowing things are in a lull and/or big releases will start rolling out later in the calendar year and into next.
Mar 1st 2012 10:45AM To do a new race/class combo they have to update:
Character animations that are new for the class (casting, swing swords, etc).
Armor sets adapted for the class' body type/shape.
Weapon (all of them) sizing to match the class.
It's a huge pain to do this, and human beings make the game, not machines.
The monk is totally new so making all of their particular weapons and armor fit the totally new Pandarian race went hand in hand. For other races, they are already using leather armor and hand weapons, staves. And I suspect character models were redone for PandaWoW so new fighting animations were just part of the existing revamp process.
Choices have to be made where to spend resources. Adding a third new race after two new races in Cata, new race/class combos in Cata, and possibly updated character models for all pre-existing races before Cata, that's a LOT of work over the past few years.
The game is trying to get you to make "interesting" choices from the character creation screen onward. It seems WoW is rather unique in moving towards limiting the available choices you have so that you have to pick and choose what to do, instead of being a jumbled free-for-all of any race/class/appearance you can mix and match as is the trend in pretty much every other MMO these days (and I dare say its harder to get a good character class/race/appearance in these new MMO with so many options to pick or edit).
Jan 24th 2012 5:22PM The only thing that infuriates me more than any class that RFUSES to use their (Core) abilities at all in a raid/heroic 5-man is the guy that is in full caster gear/spec (or mostly PVP gear) who queues as a tank to get in faster.
Mages, yes you have Crowd Control.
Druids, you have had Mark of the Wild since some low level I can't recall now.
Paladins, you have two group buffs that should be standard, and no Crusader aura is not useful. At all.
Hunters, you have traps, please use them to slow the mobs or at least add some DoTs or extra damage the the swarm around the thank.
Shaman, you have totems for a reason, please use them (had a Shammy healer who used a single total, on the final boss in Well of Eternity, really). Oh and he did maybe three heals on me (Frost DK).
We can tell, you know.
Jan 5th 2012 12:15PM How about a zone that is in the "spirit" realm? To get there some dwarf ("Ready lad? Of ya go!") or goblin cracks you over the head, you "rez" in to the spirit realm (with the faint whispers that always creep me out a little).
If you "die" in the spirit realm you go back to the real world, where the dwarf/goblin cracks you on the head and back to go.
Maybe flip the DPS/healer paradigm on its head as well. Instead of causing damage to heal with spells/weapons, and healers do damage with their "healing" spells.
Jan 3rd 2012 12:08PM One of those dragon's is a made I think. Although I bet he doesn't have any reagents on him.
Dec 12th 2011 12:12PM Deathwing is basically a finger puppet of an old god by the time he lands in the Maelstrom. His eyes are vacant, he reacts almost instinctively to the aspects while his body simple flails about. At the end of the fight he collapses down and stuff flails around from his "body" before even that fails.
Also, massive hole right through his body.
Dec 5th 2011 9:46AM If you /cheer at the band playing in the Darkmoon Faire you get a 10% stat boost for 5 min called Pumped Up.
I thought that was pretty funny.
I am disappointed you apparently can not dig in the sandbox near the sandbox tigers.
Sep 19th 2011 10:12AM Uhm, Red vs. Blue Halo "Master Chiefs" ftw.
