Those pallies were very likely prot, or in some serious s3-s4 or T6 gear. I know I personally did this several time as a tankadin. It's great fun to do, but if you think the same toon that does that is the same toon in the same gear that's smashing your face in BGs you're most likely not that familiar with pally talent trees. Just because we wears plate doesn't mean we can take on all these mobs and live.

Nov 1st 2008 8:21PM All those are true points. However, most other classes don't have Divine shield or immunity options on those fights and they do ok, so I think saying Divine Shield is required. And, on another note, post patch and post-nerf since i switched to blood I'm in the top 2-3 dps in ZA (only thing we're raiding anymore) and I'm doing 1.2-1.3k dps. I'm sure there are plenty of people doing more dps than that in ZA, but I've still got 3 pieces of blue gear (all my gear was picked up as offspec drops while tanking through T6 content). So sure, these nerfs are bad, because I feel like they're taking away any fun I could have with my toon in PVP. I'm just saying, since the nerfs I'm having no problems with DPS as long as I use blood.

I'm not disagreeing that I'd rather have them not share a cooldown, but even though they are, it really just makes us equal to most other classes as far as avoiding damage goes.

Seriously, Pvp went from painful on my retadin to overpowered. Those few weeks of fun haven't made up for the all the time I've been kited around my frost mages yet. My PVE dps hasn't taken a huge drop, since i switched from Command + Libram to Blood. Hopefully Ret will maintain PVE viability through all this. As long as I can raid on my pally without tanking or healing, Blizz can keep making Ret an easy kill.

Oct 28th 2008 10:08AM It's easy to see both sides of the story on this one. On the one hand, you have people that play on PVE servers (I'm on one) that play there specifically because they resent the interruption that forced PVP brings. On the other hand, you have people that have played the game for a long time, and just enjoy something new to do (dailies and honor grinds get boring).

The first time I got infected I didn't even realize it, and went afk right after. When I came back dead in the middle of Org I was a little confused for a minute, and miffed at the durability loss, but I realized what had happened and let it go. As the invasion wound up, the "don't intrude on my time" feelings led me to try to stop the invasions. Spamming Seed of Corruption into the middle of those groups of soldiers around the Shat flight master just as they turn into zombies stops an invasion pretty fast. However, it was pretty hard to never turn into a zombie if you were defending, so when I was a zombie I went with that too. I caused as much mayhem as I could (without griefing). I stayed in shat where it's all high level players and no auction houses. I stayed out of the banks and only infected non questgiving npc's like in lower city. It was fun to play both parts of the game.

But, there were people like my wife who only has a level 20-something mage because she's just started, and a weekend she'd looked forward to leveling wound up being spent running from zombies in places like crossroads and ashenvale. She eventually got fed up with it and did something else.

I think a big part of this debate might not be PVE but server-by-server. From my experience, there was very little intentional griefing on my server, so that made the response to the event mostly positive. But from the reports we're seeing, some servers had groups of people running around zombifying low level zones like xroads and camp T and the like, just to get in the way of people trying to have fun. Maybe we should talk about specific servers instead of just PVE vs. PVP in general?

"I'm going to take a moment and mention the new Level 75 ability Shield of Righteousness, which is sort of like the Paladin's version of Shield Slam. While not strictly for Tankadins since it's a baseline ability, the spell exemplifies Blizzard's direction of granting tanks more DPS. With a high block rating -- a stat which Tankadins stack"

the tooltip for shield of righteousness linked in the article states that it's block value, not rating, that this scales with. Current prot pallies generally have a little less block value than a similarly geared warrior. However, as a previous commenter noted, all tanking gear in the xpac is supposed to be used by all 3 classes (warr, pally, dk) so we should have block value on par with a warrior then.

I love these breakdowns of the new talents you're doing. It definitely does some of my work for me :)
