The Queue: Three questions for the dev chat {WoW}

Oct 27th 2011 11:09AM They have said that Alliance and Horde Pandas will not be able to talk to each other. They said they recognize it presents a lore problem, but they had to make the decision for game mechanic reasons.

Don't know about the Orb:)

Oct 24th 2011 11:28AM @MattKrotzer. The FAQ for the annual pass deal seems to indicate that you can use any of the current plans (1, 3, 6, or 12 months), but you guarantee them that you will remain on that for 12 months.

Oct 24th 2011 11:23AM I saw the response to this in one of the WoWInsider liveblogs. Blizz say that this is something they are always considering and trying to figure out what to do. They said one of the things being talked about is keeping the total cap across all servers (50, I think) but removing the cap on individual servers. Nothing definite right now, though, but they are looking at the issue.

Blizzard introduces tradable "Guardian Cub" companion pet, purchasable through the Blizzard Store {WoW}

Oct 10th 2011 1:25PM I'm not convinced that this will put much of a dent in gold sellers. I think you will see a huge flood of these things into the market at the start, forcing the prices way down. This will likely scare a lot of the sellers out of purchasing more.

Because this is an item with a narrow market (pet collectors), I'm not sure how much it will replace illicit gold buying. If they did this with something like subscription time (as EVE does) it would likely affect gold sellers to a much greater effect. This is just an assumption, as I have not seen any stats on how PLEX effected the EVE gold seller market.

Oct 3rd 2011 11:11AM "How is Blizzard addressing all of this time traveling? Isn't it horribly weakening the fabric of reality or something?"

I have this fear that when the patch drops, we will end up stuck on April 22nd at 5:02pm. Time goind all wibbly wobbly and whatnot.

Aug 30th 2011 11:20AM The important thing about AH fees (and anytime you give gold to an NPC, be it repairs or vendor items) is that it is a gold sink to help fight inflation.

Gold sinks aren't perfect, and there is inevitably inflation throughout the life of the game. But, there would be considerably more if it weren't for these sinks. Unlike real life, the ingame monetary system has no practical limit to generating currency. You just go out and kill stuff and get gold. In the real world, even though governments can just print dollars, they do it with a concern for inflation and try not to print too much.

There is a really cool episode of Duck Tales that deals with inflation and uncontrolled money supplies, I'll have to see if I can find the youtube clip.
