-There is nothing wrong with MMO games, the problem you describe is with RPGs
-That said - there is nothing wrong with RPGs. People make RPG games because players like it. You don't like it and thats subjective. Alot of people play Halo and hate WoW, others play Pokemon but don't like Wipeout.
-There is nothing fundamentally wrong with "RPG". You have to have a system wich is basicly database pooling and equation solving - yes, basicly math. If you stop doing that it is another genre - it becomes a Hack&Slash.
-I know of no other system wich supports non-linear character power increase (health,damage), non-linear utility (crafting, gathering) and self-contained (enclosed maps,speed-vs-distance,persistant multiplay) at the same time (these are oversimplified).

No, and this is by design. For these spells, they want you to have to click somewhere on screen and not have the game decide where to place the spell for you.

Nov 13th 2010 4:52PM Hi, love all your articles. Ive been a mage myself since vanilla because its (obvious to anyone) the best class in the game. HOWEVER, here is my take on your points:
-Ice Flows - it reduces the cooldowns of said spells, doesnt increase cast time. It does, however, increase the cast frequency (if those are the words you seek :D ).
-Imp. Cone of Cold - it can actually be dangerous in PvE leading to situations when an add gets frozen and starts attacking it's closest target wich may or may not include a non-tank. Happened to me with Shattered Barrier even before 4.0. Its bad for raids.
-Piercing Chill, when affecting two nearby targets, gives you virtually 100% chance to proc Fingers of Frost. Thats my theory.
-Shattered Barrier - see Imp. Cone of Cold.
-Reactive Barrier - i like it for pve, doesnt interrupt your casting and it saves your ass every time you take anything that doesnt oneshot you (wich is most of the dmg). Imho any frost mage that raids should have this. Healers will thank you for it.
-Frostfire Orb: very good when you need to damage a plural amount of targets while moving. Launch your orb and spam Ice Lances?
Nov 6th 2010 9:11AM I never kill lowbies. I in fact seek higher lvl players only while lvling and often beating 5-15 lvls higher wich is very hard and thats fun. oneshotting lowbies is completly pointless (gives no honor) and its annoying for the person on the other end.
It all comes down to Honour and not forgetting that there is another player behind that lowbie char.
And that whole "war is war" argument is pointless because we have lvls for gameplay purpose, its completly not appliable for war.

There is also a top-down-map-view for artilery. Aiming is realy awesome.
