Feb 17th 2012 1:04PM See, I know people who'd agree, but I lead a guild that I'd class as casual raiders, as far as raiders go - we're 4/12 Dragon Soul normal, and each fight we succeed at is a major deal, because we're not hardcore enough to breeze through them with ease.
We've had to make that judgement call - the "sorry, you can't raid with us tonight" call a bunch of times (much as I'd prefer not to), because sometimes it really is the difference between "we can kill stuff today" and "we can't", when we have to carry someone without the skill or gear level.
It's like a sliding scale;
The super-casuals, who can't succeed at the content on their own
The moderate casuals, who can if they give their 100%
The moderate hardcores, who can carry a few casuals without too much trouble
The super hardcores, who will never take anyone who's not hardcore.
I'd put us at point two on that scale. But I'd understand if people felt differently.
Feb 15th 2012 5:44PM This post only appears to have one upvote button. Where can I apply for 70-80 more?
Feb 7th 2012 1:35PM This is the version I'd heard of before, too. It's something I've meant to get around to doing some time, because the idea of genuinely checking old loot for upgrades sounds fun. As a paladin, I know I can manage some Cata normals with my proper gear... will be interesting to see how far I can push without (I'm thinking the ICC 5-mans might be an issue).
Jan 21st 2012 10:53AM Yes, I've won the Kalu'ak one, and yes, it's utterly luck-dependent (luck in getting the RNG, luck in having enough local pools spawned, luck in not having other people competing for the same schools), assisted slightly by my having the Dalaran teleport ring. I took the heirloom reward, which was a pretty dumbass decision, in retrospect (it's useless to me now all my characters on the server are 85).
Sometimes I consider going back and having another go to get the boots... but the main reason I'd need the boots would be to win the Booty Bay fishing contest... which if I won the boots, I wouldn't need to do. So that logic loops in my head a couple of times and then I lose interest.

Steal a moment and steal my idea, you mean, you hack. ; )
(seriously, though, please, someone get Blizzard to steal my ideas. I have lots of them and they're all awesome)
There's probably a sweet spot to how significant those keystones could be, though. Things like Halls of Origination's run speed buff are clearly on the underpowered side, but removing whole mobs from trash pulls might leave everyone feeling that they needed to rush out and level archaeology. While Archaeology could use the help, it's probably best not semi-forcing too many people to grind it out against their will.
Jan 12th 2012 4:18PM My brain immediately read "take the cloth" in the opening paragraph as "touch the cloth". My brain is bad people.
Jan 5th 2012 9:52AM I don't mind so long as they don't write off our involvement completely. Black Temple and Ulduar did it right - Maiev and Brann both featured in those zones, but the bulk of the work was done by us and nobody questions that.
On the other hand, the constant fawning and doe-eyed gazing at Thrall by the dragon aspects as if they've forgotten we're still in the room is less inspiring - we're here guys, can we at least get a nod of recognition? And the (two!) statues of Tirion Fordring, as if he slew the Lich King single handedly, are nothing short of an insult (that said, I do like the idea that personality-wise, despite being a Champion of the Light, he is just that much of a jackass - kill or be killed, Champions!).
I would love to see more major lore characters get actively involved in dungeons, like in Halls of Reflection (which was a superb example of doing it right) - it would be a good way of getting Mekkatorque or Lore'themar out of the house from time to time - but the way they've handled it most recently, I'd be very wary.
Jan 4th 2012 6:36PM They eat like crazy, but the draenei men keep stealing their Higgs-Bosun particles. : (
Jan 4th 2012 6:18PM Hmm, that lacks sincerity next to a blood elf avatar, doesn't it?
Meh, I'm Horde by circumstance, and there's not much in it between Draenei and belves anyway. ; )
