Know Your Lore: The top 10 lore reveals of Cataclysm, part 2 {WoW}

Jan 4th 2012 5:00PM I could be wrong, but doesn't he get a namecheck from one of the Faceless ones in the Dragon Soul raid?

Know Your Lore: The top 10 lore reveals of Cataclysm, part 2 {WoW}

Jan 4th 2012 4:57PM Doesn't it?

Surely that's the point - that making Deathwing the helpless pawn, rather than the actual villain, that it undermines his status?

What might Mists of Pandaria mean for healing? {WoW}

Jan 4th 2012 4:24AM I'd agree with that, tbh.

I don't mind the current healing model (though I made damn well sure to not level a healer until 8-9 months into the expac), but I had a ton of fun in Wrath spamming big, powerful heals at a rapid pace. I realise that the Wrath model of healing was unpopular with some, but I guess everyone gets their turn.

Officers' Quarters: When your guild won't recruit {WoW}

Jan 2nd 2012 1:44PM "That makes no sense at all; why wouldn't you kick inactive members? What possible good is an inflated roster number going to serve?"

They might come back, and be active members again - they're far less likely to want to rejoin you if you've told them to GTFO with a /gkick.

Your turn, barring a guild that's hit the member cap, what possible good is kicking them out going to serve?

Officers' Quarters: When your guild won't recruit {WoW}

Jan 2nd 2012 12:27PM On a slightly mercenary note, with Mists of Pandaria and the possibility of new guild levels approaching, booting inactive members who may be waiting for the expansion before they return might be unwise, especially for smaller guilds who're less likely to hit the guild XP cap every day.

I used to boot the inactives back when I guild led in BC, but the guild I'm in these days just has a special rank for them so we don't look at them on the guild roster and wonder where they've gone, and I think I'd be more inclined to run things that way these days, guild rep or no guild rep. Coming back from a break of a few months to find that the nice people you used to know wanted rid of you can't be a nice feeling.

Jan 2nd 2012 12:15PM Are these the droids you're looking for?

If so, then you're right, it's a piece of TCG art by Alex Garner, and there's probably a higher res version floating around the internet somewhere if you're after desktopping it!

Dec 30th 2011 12:30PM Now I'm super-confused. While he was a jackass for dropping group midfight, I thought that guy you were grouped with was right - I thought if both tanks used Heroic Will, he started whaling on the melee. I've certainly seen more than a couple of melee DPS die during that fight without overaggroing.

This is the reality of LFR - given a choice of two options, people will get mad at you whichever one you pick. It would be ace if they could do a better job of signposting this stuff - there's a token effort been made, but there's still a lot that they don't tell you.

The Queue: Cat picture {WoW}

Dec 28th 2011 5:55PM "Knowing how Deathwing met his end in End Times isn't at all important, and bringing Chromatus back for Dragon Soul just confuzzles everything...this beast is supposed to be strong enough to kill Deathwing in the future, but now he's playing a minor role? How could DW possibly be the end boss of Cataclysm with Chromatus in the picture?"

But from the moment Chromatus was conceived, this was always the issue. Not putting him in the game makes him ridiculous, but putting him in the game makes him ridiculous. The lesson is that the novels shouldn't try to invent bigger threats than the ones the game plot is focusing on unless there's the intent there to reflect them extensively in game - and even then, I don't think that can work.

On a side note, as a result of this, I've read up on Chromatus's wiki page (I'm fond of several of the novels but I dislike Thrall too much to sink money on the Cata novels) - he's far more powerful than Deathwing, yet the Aspects take him down - but to kill Deathwing, they have to sacrifice their immortality and their aspect powers? Je ne comprendes pas.

Big stakes and the end of an expansion {WoW}

Dec 28th 2011 4:28PM "You could say something similar about every single raid boss that's ever existed. "If 9-24 easy to kill guys were behind you doing a lot of damage to you and healing folks, while you were busy attacking a hard to kill -- but not very dangerous -- foe, you'd certainly take notice and do more about it, right?""

Every other boss at least makes some effort to fight back against someone. Deathwing just flaps along, bleeds incontinently and doesn't even try. It's sad, more than anything.
