I made a snide remark in return to a snide remark. Not one directed at me directtly, granted, but still. The discussion after that has been rewarding though, and if I come off as a bit cross I apologize for that.
Regarding being a fan of the old school Bioware games I count myself to that population also, and my defense is in no way blind. Bioware (and EA) has done some things that I do not like (ie. the From Ashes DLC for ME3). I just think that the tone of the discussion should be in relation to the trespasses made. If you think that it is in the current discourse that is fine, but I disagree (which unfortunately seems to push me further to the fanboy edge than I really am just to be able to make myself heard).
Feb 27th 2012 6:53PM @(Unverified) I'm not saying that their reputation hasn't taken a hit. I'm saying that games like SWTOR and DA2 are getting a disproportionally large amount of hate compared to their observable qualities. The anti-Bioware hate machine has worked up so much steam now that it doesn't matter what they do, a large subset of gamers are going to hate on it regardless.

I'm sorry, is that supposed to be a bad thing? I'm enjoying SWTOR immensely and DA2, while being a rather mediocre game by Bioware standards, still was better than 80% of other games on the market. All my opinion of course (You know, as in contrast to fact?)
Feb 27th 2012 4:54PM @Joaquin Crowe It is? Man, someone should probably tell the team that's developing DA3 that.
Feb 26th 2012 11:37AM Playing the WoW beta blew me away since I didn't really have a concept about what an MMO was back then. Being introduced to it for the first time with my real life friends joining me in running around in a huge gameworld blew my mind back then. Other then that though? Not really. I think I've gotten better at having realistic expectations for upcoming games lately, and before that they've mostly disappointed me.
Feb 24th 2012 9:25PM @Fabius Bile I'd say that it currently fits the bill for both sides quite well. Seriously, the comment war on Massively is getting silly. I'd tell you all to stop it, but sosmehow I doubt you'd bother to listen to me.
Feb 24th 2012 5:22PM @Lenn I'm with you on that one, and I'm a pretty big Bioware fan. Hell, to the day I die I'll probably maintain that Dragon Age 2 was a good game. I've totally given up on having any meaningful conversation on Massively by now, save for perhaps articles on some smaller niche games.
Feb 20th 2012 10:41AM Oh, are we coming around to the point in the cycle where GW2 will be the new fanboy/hater field of battle? Let me get my popcorn before you go any further!
Seems like the game is shaping up nicely. There are still a few things that I personally (emphasis on that word, big time) find a bit jarring. I have high hopes though, I'd really like for GW2 to be my fallback game for the forseeable future.

The difference is basically that you came in, stated your dislikes in a calm and constructive manner. Mtor comes in, trolls for attention by being deliberately confrontive and adds nothing to be discussed.
Also, saying "Han shot first" would imply that Greedo actually got a shot off.

I'd agree with you with one caveat. I do believe that there is room for some mixed business implementations in MMO's, if they are donw right. Giving people options of how they pay for their game is a good thing as it opens the game up for more people. If players feel that how others are paying for their game influences their own enjoyment of the game, that is when it gets sour.
(And I don't mean "he bought an item/payed a subscription and now he's ahead of me", I mean "he bought an item/payed a subscription and now he can kille in two strikes". If it diesn't directly influence you, then you're just complaining for the sake of it)
