Feb 6th 2010 10:40AM It's not a requirement. Don't do it. Keep your one level 80 character and enjoy.
There is ZERO requirement for you to level anyone else.
IF you WANT to do it, off you go. Level 1 to 80 like is expected (Death Knight aside).
That's the game. If you want instant max level characters to enjoy the "end-game" then go play Guild Wars and choose the pvp only path where you start at max level with your gear.
You want to set up the chessboard for a brand new game in a way that you're only one move away from checkmate. (Opening with a pawn or knight is so boooooring. Yawn.)
I vote "Yes, from scratch each time."
World of Warcraft is more than Raiding.
Nov 27th 2009 8:46AM I'll quit when a better game comes out. I'm seriously hoping it'll be Blizzards successor to World of Warcraft, having tried one or two, three or four, other products and yet never wavering in my enjoyment of WoW.
However, MMORPGs seem to be a tricky, fickle, business and their creating a follow-on is no guarantee it'll be a success, albeit it'll have better odds than most.

Sep 16th 2009 3:57PM I'm old and hard of hearing. (What's that?)
Nov 11th 2008 3:30PM Sounds like a gold sellers paradise. Just ask Nihilium what it takes to be first. You all want to be winners, don't you?
Jul 7th 2007 6:51AM Legendary Flying mounts anyone? A mere 50,000 gold. Get cracking. (Obviously only for those for whom 5,000 gold was no big deal. I.e. a week after the expansion hits. Probably going to be that Resto Shaman with superb farming skills. For the other folks, what's a $3,000 RMT to be the first?)
More rep grinds. (Folks like rep grinds. Means they can ignore the 99.99% of the population that's stupid and can't play their class.)
New 1-70 content isn't going to be of *any* interest to the raiders, UNLESS Blizzard adds a new class (like Horde Paladin and Alliance Shaman did) and force people to powerlevel (or pay for it) a new class to 70 so they can raid.
Raids of Warcraft should be the new name.
But, perhaps I'm being cynical?
Jun 3rd 2007 2:16PM European servers: Where the gold is bought cheap* and high unemployment, and lots of social benefits, allows lots of playtime. "Grats" on your successes, Europe!
5500 gold on a US server = $629.
5500 gold on a European server = $138.
(Just a quick snapshot of the first server on US and Europe from a top gold seller site.)
They've bought their success. Maybe we can make them stars.
