Scattered Shots: What to do in-game when there's nothing left to do {WoW}

Feb 16th 2012 9:32AM "how amazing the hunter community is -- no other class has anything like this"

Ahem....

And yeah, we did it again the next year in Wrath. ;)

BlizzPlanet goes to Toy Fair 2012 in New York {WoW}

Should WoW players be responsible for player accountability? {WoW}

Feb 8th 2012 4:57PM Problem: The reward for reporting someone is too low. It won't impact you in the future, and you don't know if you even did any good.

Solution: Reduce the cost of reporting. If I could just right-click a player, and pick from a drop-down menu of objectionable activity, and then be done with reporting, I would be much more likely to report than I would with the current system, where I have to write a short essay for anything other than spam/language abuses.

With a system like that, Blizz could then go to a player council sort of thing for some types of reports. Like, if you report a player for deliberately wiping a party (a tank pulling too much and dropping group, for example), then a player council could definitely review that. Meanwhile, Blizzard employees would only see reports for things like name violations, that they would have to deal with back-end.

The Queue: Shattered glass {WoW}

Feb 8th 2012 3:42PM Assuming you aren't trolling:

1. Why do you think everyone here is rooting for the horde? I'm Alliance. Why should I like any of your leaders, nevermind loudmouth jerk leaders?

2. If I *were* Horde, I'd probably be rooting for the non-orc factions. Tauren are all cool and honorable and naturey and stuff, and Garrosh is ruining relations with them. Plus, Thrall and Jaina working on diplomatic resolutions was a cool story that Garrosh ruined. He's basically just a heavy-handed way for Blizzard to keep its artificial 2-faction system going.

Feb 8th 2012 3:35PM Fishing in WoW is awful. Just awful. Is it better than a punch in the face? Sure. But that shouldn't be our standard for a fun video game.

Stand still. Face a direction. Push a button. Stand still for some long, but variable, amount of time, staring at your screen or listening for a small splashy sound (not to be confused with the other watery sounds going on). Usually you then get to push a second button. Repeat. That's fishing! Wheeeee....

The fact that fishing is, essentially, unchanged since launch, as bad as it is, is just astonishing to me. Blizz has been so proactive on making so many other facets of the game better, but fishing sits there, just flipping us all off.

Feb 6th 2012 12:08AM I'm not worried about my progress...I'm worried about right-clicking a quest item and having the game say "you've already completed that quest". I know Blizz already said they fixed it...I'm curious if anyone has actually given it a spin, and can confirm whether or not it actually IS fixed.

Feb 5th 2012 5:07PM Any word yet on if the Darkmoon artifact quest items are working properly this month? I'm afraid to even try them, since last month you got locked out of the fix if you had attempted to use the broken ones.

Officers' Quarters: The plight of 25-man raiding guilds {WoW}

Jan 31st 2012 1:06AM I will concede the point that 25s can be fun to play, but not to organize. But how are you going to play without an organizer? That is the whole point. The fun-fun-25-good-times don't just magically happen. You need some officer or officers willing to put up with the administrative crap, and the payoff may not be good enough for them to do so. Which is kind of the whole point of my post. So, have fun showing up and playing, but don't be surprised if your raid goes away because no one wanted to run it.

And no, I don't think that 10 mans need to die. I'm sorry you had some groups collapse, but, in my experience, a 10 man is much easier to run. Roster, loots, assignments...all much easier to manage. Plus, you can actually get to KNOW the people in your raid, and cultivate a tight group of friends...who, in turn, need less leadership just to get going every day, and will work together as a team better.
