The Lawbringer: Let's read Activision Blizzard's 2010 10-K annual report {WoW}

Apr 22nd 2011 7:55PM The sites like the one you mention are largely dependent on players downloading the addon which polls the server on its population. The more players who have in per server the more acurate their data. Blizzard themselves dont post things like horde vs alliance population per server or total overall players per server. That being said those websites wont ever be able to provide the full picture because only blizzard themselves know.

Breakfast Topic: Design your fantasy vanity loot {WoW}

Apr 3rd 2011 3:35PM I would love to have a pet monkey that follows me around and does tricks. And when youre around other wow players it throws poo at them. And they get an emote that says "Achiew's monkey hit you in the face with poo". Then they have a debuff called "you smell like one too" and its text reads "You smell like Monkey poo". And flies gather around the players head for 30 minutes.

Jan 27th 2011 1:06PM Its the same story with any online game. I have been playing video games since before online gaming was introduced and although an avid gamer have always been able to maintain relationships. My favorite situations of all time is when you are playing a game online, be it Wow or halo or COD, and your girlfriend needs your attention for a second. You tell her to hold on, and she follows with "cant you just pause it?"
It kills me every time. "yes dear let me just tell everyone to stop firing for five minutes"
That response it typically met with severe rolling of the eyes and exasperation. Priceless.
My girlfriend of five years and now fiance has at least learned the terminology. If she needs me and i say i am in a "raid" or "instance" or "death Match", she knows i have to wait until we are done. Unless its an emergency of course. "honey the kitchens on fire!" "hold on im raiding!"

Breakfast Topic: What feature does WoW need most? {WoW}

Dec 23rd 2010 9:58AM I saw some players made suggestions for player housing. I want to see a kind of player housing where you choose where you want your player housing to be and it is only visible by yourself and any friend who you choose to allow access to. It should come with restrictions like only being able to choose locations that are friendly to your faction or neutral. who wants people setting up housing in opposite faction cities?
Once your location is chosen you have a key or item that summons a portal in that location that allows you to enter a kind of instance. Once inside you have a kind of trophy room where you can display items and achievements and decorate the room however you want. Posters, furniture, tabards etc. One could use items collected through archeology or items that drop from raids and bosses that are simply vanity. There could be big gold sinks where you can pay different amounts of gold for different types of real estate. Do you want a studio? one or two bedroom? Elven theme or goblin? Each would have its unique price. Maybe even allow players to sell their spots to others for gold. just another way to immerse ourselves into the game.

The Queue: The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice! {WoW}

Oct 3rd 2010 12:43PM I just want to point out the ghost busters reference in the title haha.
Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor: What do you mean, "biblical"?
Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath of God type stuff.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly.
Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling!
Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...
Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave!
Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Classic haha

Aug 13th 2010 4:43PM I think it would be awesome to play a game that was basically wow underneath with different make up. By that i mean all the same mechanics and balances and play styles with a more intense graphical interface and effects. Granted, graphics and effects dont make a game, but it would be cool to have a final move that slices an opponents head off and then you could pick it up and throw it at another player as a taunt. haha

Breakfast Topic: What are you willing to buy? {WoW}

Apr 17th 2010 12:40PM chady i agree with you in part but i think alot of people are being a little too dramatic about this. Lets not forget that blizzard is a company, and companies are in the business of making money. They provide a service which we pay montly to have access to. Nothing in that service states that its all inclusive and that we will get everything for free just because we pay the monthly fee. Its the same with any other service, cable, cell phone, home phone, you pay the monthly.. but if you want additional features you pay more. Its a matter of perspective and i see it as 25 dollars for something cool in game is no different than me paying 25 dollars for a blueray movie or going out for dinner someplace semi nice. I also see it as the more money blizzard makes the more money they have to spend on employing the best developers, using the best equipment and servers to make our gaming experience the best as they have done since.. lets face it "the lost vikings" was awesome! and i have yet to play a blizz game i didnt love. To each their own my friend.

Breakfast Topic: What are you willing to buy? {WoW}

Apr 17th 2010 11:05AM I am ok with vanity items that don't affect the actual game play. I was one of the people in that 150k waiting line and I must say I do love my new mount. I also have a violet proto drake ao it gave me no more of an advantage than I already had. That being said I doubt blizzard will ever go beyond vanity. They are so careful about upsetting the balance of the game. In fact so much that they could stop gold farmers on their tracks by simply selling gold themselves but they don't because it would ruin the games Economy. Spending real money on things in game I have no problem with, as everything we do has a price. Take the amount of hours you have invested in wow and multiply that times how much you make an hour at work. We all invest something into the game which eventually translates into a dollar amount. So what's 25 bucks for a cool lookin mount? I saw keep em comin blizzard. Just no items that affect game play like gear badges gold etc.
