Jul 7th 2010 10:37PM Just be thankful for how safe and sheltered your life is if you've never known anyone who's had reason to live in fear of a violent stalker.
Not everyone is as lucky as you are.
Jul 7th 2010 10:27PM You use one e-mail address for everything? Really?
Jul 7th 2010 10:05PM "...The more agressive you stand against the simple fact that everyone should be responsible for his/her own words and attitude..."
I'm not standing against that. Everyone should be responsible for their own actions and incur the consequences. The problem is the approach, not the goal.
Let me suggest an alternative approach:
1. To post on forums, you need a wow account. (Possibly with a Level50+ toon to get posting access to non-tech support forums.)
Any infringements issued to that wow account apply to all toons on all servers.
2. First offence: banned from forums for a week - and all your toons on every server are banned, too.
3. Second offence: Lose 10% rep with all factions & guilds, and 20% of all gold on every toon.
4. Third offence: The highest GS item on every one of your toons is deleted.
5. Fourth offence: you lose 3 levels on every toon.
After that, another offense: Account irrevocably perma-banned.
That's a rough start, and maybe heavy handed, but you get the idea. There are plenty of ways to make someone face consequences without risking them off-line.
Bossy, you don't seem to understand that the problem we have with this idea isn't the attempt to have people take responsibility. It's that it's a terrible -and in some cases, dangerous- way to implement that goal.
And maybe you never will realise why it matters, until you've seen how stupid and dangerous humans can be. Maybe you think everyone here is overreacting about danger.
I hope for your sake you never have to sleep night after night, wondering if tonight is the night that your stalker will come in the window with the axe he sunk into your friend's chest, and the knife he sank into your partner's spine. Because he can't stand her being happy, 5 years after they broke up.
And I hope that you never receive threats of your home and workplace being firebombed, because your eyes are the wrong shape for the parents of the person you're dating.
These are examples of why people might want to protect their identity. They're both true cases; they've both happened to me.
If you don't need to worry about this sort of thing, great! You're lucky. Not everyone else is.
Jul 7th 2010 10:31AM Ok, we all know that while the claimed intentions are good, there are ways to achieve them that don't involve something so clearly flawed/dangerous.
I don't believe that no-one in Bliz was able to see that.
So, they're doing it for some reason other than the claimed one. Any ideas what that is?
Jul 7th 2010 9:32AM Mike Rotch reporting in, or wait - was that Mike Hunt? I might be Richard Cranium, for that matter. If I got my kicks from trolling, a few bucks once off to buy a game card isn't that hard to manage. In that case, I'd probably be named something like that. Or maybe I'd just pick a name at random from the phone book. So many fake names to choose from...
Yep, "real" names are going to solve so many trolling problems.
Jun 27th 2010 2:04AM @Kooda. Same thing happened to me on my first two. 2 toons, 2 eggs, 2 mounts. I didn't think much of it, until I watched guildies consistently not-get mounts.
(It's ironic, given that I don't collect mounts. I doubt any of my toons have 10+ mounts, and I sure wouldn't bother grinding for a mount.)
Jun 25th 2010 9:42PM I found it hard to resize at first, too. Maybe try to lock it, and then unlock it. The bottom right corner can be used to change size. (For me, this corner was hidden under another object.)
Jun 25th 2010 6:47PM @Tribunal: Can I suggest moving to Pitbull4? It took a but, but once I got my head around the different approach to config, it felt -much- easier to use. I doubt I'd ever go back to version 3.
Jun 22nd 2010 7:56PM "Aye because whining consists of cohesive thought provoked by provocative statements about something that I am passionate about."
Your passion is great. And your thought may well have been really cohesive, but you didn't express much of them here. Unless I missed something, you basically said 'it's hard to heal when you're not geared' and "[Cataclysm is] Removing our only way of replenishment ..."
AFAIK, we don't yet know all of these things about post-cata healing:
a) incoming damage quantities and patterns
b) spell costs as a proportion of actual (non-base) mana pools
c) spell power & coefficients
d) health pool sizes for characters (other than that they'll be larger)
e) formula for base mana regen with realistic numbers to plug in for stats.
So if we don't know how much & how often we need to heal, what % of our mana our heals cost, or our default mana regen, isn't it a bit early to be stating that our mana replenishment is being nerfed and we'll be benched?
You're also referring to other healers as though they're unchanged from 3.x, when the same questions apply to their heals, too.
Jun 15th 2010 10:51AM "I think Cataclysm should have only 2 or 3 raids in total and the rest is new PVP bgs and just a ton of story, all the PvE people can move into the new MMO eventually to get their epic fix."
Well, that works for you. Not for me. I hate PvP, and this new MMO doesn't seem to be up for sale in my local game shop...
