Apr 3rd 2012 1:43AM I have a few notes:
-There are two types of story writing.
1) Have the entire story arc pre-planned, and have it unfurl slowly over the duration of the game. This is what you imply that Blizzard does.
2) Create a chapter. Finish. Create a new chapter. Finish. Create a new chapter, tying in something from a previous chapter because it sounds cool. Finish. Continue like this forever, never really pre-planning an entire character arc in advance. This is what Blizzard ACTUALLY does.
-Garrosh. In TBC, he was a nice dude. End of character development. Wotlk begins to be created, and Blizz wants to have a new guy on the offensive. They chose to bring in Garrosh and retcon his personality to fit this random new improvised story. Then they plan Cata. They decide Cata = Thrall's story, so they chose to fill the Warchief role with Garrosh. It'll stir the pot, why not? Now MoP is being created. Lets kill Garrosh! Why the hell not? We've dug ourselves into an irreversible hole with his character, so kill him off.
End of Garrosh story arc. (Note: Do you REALLY think that when they made him in TBC that he was preordained to be a final tier raid boss at 90 in the Panda expansion? Fuck no.)
TL;DR- My point is, this Cata story arc starts and ENDS in Cata. There is no "It will get better." It's actually: "THIS IS HOW IT IS. PERIOD. NO CHANGES IN SIGHT UNTIL THEY GET ANOTHER BRAINFART."
Blizzard does think of things in the span of years. It's just 1-2 years. It's per-expansion.
Mar 29th 2012 3:15PM I really like female night elves for one reason.
GOOD POSTURE. I absolutely hate how stupid male (troll, undead, orc, worgen, etc) look because they slouch!
I LOVE the male troll, when it stands erect!
Really though, if the men were more erect we'd see more of them. And yes, that is a sex joke. Deal with it :P
Mar 29th 2012 3:25AM Oh yea! You may thing that pvp epics are the best at 60. wrong.
get outland greens with as many sockets as possible. give them +20 agi/str/int.
I saw a ret paladin with 18 +20 str gems. she globaled people with exorcism. it was intense.
Mar 29th 2012 3:22AM Some notes:
"I'm informed that hunters are pretty great twinks all the way to level 60, so I'm going to be taking my sweet time with my little goblin."
They actually whoop ass all the way to 80. Level marksman because Aimed Shot crits are beastly and when you blow people up in a matter of seconds you get +50 focus per kill. You'll never need to steady shot. (Also bertos staff at 78 is ilevel 308 and can get the 180 agi enchant.)
"Those heirlooms? Well, at certain levels, you could enchant them, if you are or have access to an enchanter"
Enchantments on heirlooms can only be what you can enchant on a level 1 piece. Thus, your heirloom cloak that you can wear from 1 to 85 will have the same enchant from 1 to 85 (4 resil I recommend).
"A brief word about the magic level 78. This is the point where Cataclysm green gear becomes available, and if you can get it, you should."
This is not correct. The lowest level that one may obtain cataclysm item level gear (727+) is at 77. You can get ilevel 308 blue quality gear from regular dungeons (TotT & BWD) and those can have cata enchants. Also, int leather, mail, and plate is much more rare than agi/str versions. For your wallet, just get cloth, even though it's subpar.
I also want to add that maxing first aid and using the best bandages (which you wont be able to make yet) helps a lot. Use WotLK gems in your brutal pvp gear at 70. And if you really want to get serious at 70, roll a gnome and play an engineer. with the tazik shocker you can global people.
Mar 28th 2012 2:48PM I'm disappointing that people hate PvP after trying for a little bit.
Did you have resilience gear that is up to date? Did you have as many healers as the opposing team? If not, take your experience with a grain of salt.
I find nothing more fun than fighting against the most intelligent "AI" possible. It's so much more dynamic than a boss who stands there and auto-attacks the tanks and has random spell farts.
Mar 27th 2012 1:49AM I'd like to add:
Complaining is a good thing, kind of.
Sure, changes are coming, it's early, EARLY beta. Even after mists goes live, changes will continue. However -- why do changes exist? Because there is a problem. make sure you voice when problems exist so Blizzard fixes them. Just don't be a dick about it.
(My post isn't actually targeted towards any of you specifically, but towards this audience in general :)
Mar 23rd 2012 6:16PM 1- Why are you posting this comment on a stream of the beta? Seems like the last place you'd want to be :)
2- When you enter the beta you can take your time, explore, immerse yourself, etc. That way, when live comes out, you can engage in the "Race" to the top (ie server firsts) without having to feel bad about missing anything/skipping interesting moments. That's why I don't mind spoilers :)
Mar 22nd 2012 11:09PM Yea.
Mogging has made green randoms crazy fun. I spent 5k gold for my warriors outfit, and made 15k leveling to 80, all from random world green drops.
(I'm wearing the Hyperion plate with the int-heirloom shoulders as my mog set).
Mar 22nd 2012 12:58PM The earlier you signed up for Annual Pass and the older your WoW account is, then the faster you get a beta invite.
You have a 100% chance of being able to get into the beta with an Annual Pass, but bear in mind that 1 week before MoP release can still count for that. By that I mean that you may not get access until the last minute.
For your reference, I have had my WoW account since early TBC and signed up for Annual Pass right away. No beta (yet).

Which writers have beta access? I want to know if the class writers for the classes I play have access yet! :D
