Um...like...uh...that one rock to the left of...Stormwind Harbor?
May 3rd 2010 3:41PM So that's the problem? I was motivated not by the fact that I had completed every single holiday achievement in the meta for a WHOLE YEAR, but rather by the fact that it's a 310% mount?
No. I could sit on my butt and camp the TLPD for days on end, and get the 310% mount while I watch Futurama reruns, as opposed to spending a full year leveling cooking, completing mind-numbing quest chains and looking for stupid troll rogues if that was all there was to it.
The VPD is good motivation, don't get me wrong, but it requires an investment that, by the end, is its own reward.

May 3rd 2010 3:01PM I have to admit, I was speaking (or so i thought) of my perception that there was no official response from Blizzard regarding SoHK. My wording was not clear to that end, so...oops.
I was speaking out of a great sense of nervousness over this achievement. I am TERRIBLE at PvP, and I saw such specific "one-man-army" requirements as a detriment to everyone involved. I hate ruining other people's gameplay.
Others, however, told me that it really only SOUNDED harder than it seemed. "Ha. Fools. How could you know better than I?", I childishly thought.
Long and short, I sat down last night while my wife watched chick-shows and...well, two hours later, I was buzzing the Legerdemain on my new purple sky-lizard.
So, I was wrong, it WASN'T that hard, and all those people that told me to stop QQ'ing and do it were absolutely right.
Now...is Blizzard going to do anything about the dang respawn rate on the Time-Lost Proto Drake?? I mean, SHEESH!!!!!
Apr 30th 2010 11:41AM Not QQing about it...just shocked Blizz hadn't responded. I didn't see the response you say they made, so my bad.
I hate PvP like cancer (because I suck at it...no illusions there), but I have no problem sucking it up to do the achievement.
As for "some achievements are harder than others", I can see the validity of that argument in the context of a stand-alone achievement. But this meta is a year-long investment, and people spending that year completing reasonably difficult tasks only to be hung up on a single achievement seems like something worth addressing...again.
Apr 30th 2010 11:10AM Off-topic, but with Sunday rapidly approaching, I thought I'd bring it up:
It seems inconceivable that no one from Blizzard has even commented on the uproar over the School of Hard Knocks achievement for the Children's Week meta. Should we take this to mean that Blizz is going to ignore complaints from both PvE-centric AND PvP-centric players, and keep such a frustrating "every-man-for-himself-regardless-of-the-week-long-ruination-of-battlegrounds" achievement as-is?
Apr 15th 2010 1:52PM NVM...I see whut you did thar.
Apr 15th 2010 1:49PM ummm...you may want to look up "socialism". This ain't it.
Now, if I was forced to pay $25 to buy YOU a mount, THAT'S socialism.
Apr 15th 2010 1:43PM I'm not buying this mount to make anyone jealous. I'm buying it because it looks sweet, and because I have a little mad-money (for once).
I ran Strat-hole 98 times and FINALLY got Baron Rivendare's devil-horse, luckily got my GPD after only 2 eggs, and, next month, I'll get my VPD. THOSE are the mounts I'll shamelessly rub in the faces of anyone without Ymiron's Dome, Invincible or the Time-Drain Proto Drake (they are far superior humans).
This doesn't mean Blizz just broke the game, it means that now everyone has a really cool Sparklepony to ride/fly around because it looks purty.
Think about how many people would leave the game if, all of a sudden, Blizz decided to equate IRL moneys with gold/gear advantages. They have no real incentive to do that.
Except for me. I paid $500 to ride Arthas' clammy corpse up and down STV, and you all suck. Bow down, fools.
