Breakfast Topic: Is your main a former alt? {WoW}

Oct 26th 2010 8:34AM Oh, have I ever.

My first main was a hunter, who hit 60 during the vanilla days. I loved my nelf hunter and her kitty. But during BC, the alliance shaman was the new thing and I drove her to 70. No sooner had she hit 70 and was ready for Kara then I realized that if I wanted to heal in raids, I wanted to do it with the most traditional healer you could have. I started over with a priest, got her to level 70 in record time and she's been my real main ever since - through ToC, ICC and hopefully beyond. My poor shaman is stuck at 70. And my hunter? I'm happy to say she finally made it to Northrend... where she's been sitting at level 71 for months. *sigh*

Oct 20th 2010 4:31PM I wonder sometimes why GC continues put up with us when he could be hanging out with the fish on a beautiful caribbean island. At least the fish never turn into whining, impatient, ungrateful babies.

Oct 20th 2010 4:25PM Thank you, SpaceGoat. I did that and found that it paused to buffer several times during the test run. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't anything else I needed to do to make sure it doesn't do that during some "earthshattering" announcement or something. :)

Oct 20th 2010 2:27PM I asked this question during the last Tuesday Maintainence post, but figured it is best put here:

Are there any tips for those of us who plan on live streaming the BlizzCon events through the internet? Is there a port or set of ports that we should set up our firewalls to accept to make the most of the live stream and minimize the skips, buffering or other annoying disconnects? I'd rather take care of all that now then after it has become a problem.

Tuesday Morning Post: No pre-BlizzCon lull edition {WoW}

Oct 19th 2010 7:52AM That is exactly how I felt. Someone commented that the full cinematic might have even been better if you'd seen or heard people screaming and running for their lives. It's like an empty world that he's destroying.

But the TV spot - that gave me the shivers.

Oct 19th 2010 7:49AM Question!

I purchased a virtual ticket to BlizzCon and I went on just now to download the live stream program and make sure I knew what to do when it went live. Unfortunately, the "test" stream is having issues and having to buffer, etc. I know with WoW patches, Blizzard tells you what ports to have openings in your firewall for - but what about the BlizzCon live-stream? I have a hardwire firewall in my modem and I'd like to set it up properly before it becomes an issue. Any suggestions?

Officers' Quarters: Mailbox roundup redux {WoW}

Sep 13th 2010 2:11PM "One other option is to suggest a break for the entire guild."

This. Don't wait for people to start to get burnt out. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, take a break.

I've learned this from my current guild leader, actually. Back when we were getting ready to tackle Sindy, we had a rough weekend. No big deal, everyone has rough weekends. But rather than taking a fresh stab at it the next weekend, he went further and declared the next weekend a non-raiding weekend. Likewise, this past weekend, several people were on vacation, so instead of trying to put something together, he just decided that this would be another non-raiding weekend. I think he tries to, if the opportunity presents itself, give us a weekend of non-raiding about once every 1.5-2 months. It works out amazingly.

WoW Rookie: These darn kids today need to learn ... {WoW}

Sep 9th 2010 11:41AM re: "that Disc Priests can heal"

... that HOLY PRIESTS can heal TOO! (I'm so tired of getting spit on for being holy! Just because Disc is the current flaver of the week, doesn't mean Holy isn't just as viable!)

Also, things I had to learn the hard way?

...that I should dismiss my hunter's pet before jumping off that ledge in LBRS

... ... ... Do the new kids even KNOW what LBRS is?! Hmm....

And another important lesson (*cough*Pet Peeve*cough*):

... that DM means Dire Maul, NOT Deadmines. *shifty eyes*

The Queue: Predicting the Cataclysm release date {WoW}

Sep 2nd 2010 5:19PM My understanding is that in Cata, you'll be able to purchase the 310% flight or (if you already have a 310% mount) you can get grandfathered in. My question is - what mounts will that effect? Will that cover all of the epic flying mounts? Will my favorite netherdrake mount be able to fly at 310 speeds alongside my violet proto-drake? Or will the 310 speed be reserved for only certain mounts?

Alternately, I realize that, currently, all flying mounts say "this mount can only be used in outlands or northrend." Will that restriction be lifted (I hope?) or will some mounts remain restricted to the previous flying zones?

Breakfast Topic: Design your own old-school achievements {WoW}

Aug 23rd 2010 8:31AM Ugh, that was supposed to be in reply to Erthshade. *sigh*
