Patch 4.3 PTR: Season 11 PVP sets might blow your mind {WoW}

Sep 28th 2011 5:29PM These sets are obviously the new dungeon sets. Blizzard never strays this far from their original pvp design, even considering Relentless -> Wrathful. Some of those look like they may be the PvP sets, but most of them definitely look like the Dungeon sets they mentioned.

Breakfast Topic: What's your favorite in-game toy? {WoW}

Jul 29th 2011 2:26PM Sylvanas' Music Box or my new favorite, Mylune's Call.

Both of them are wonderful. I use the Music Box in raid when people are getting angry. Seems to be a wonderful way to calm them down.

Officers' Quarters: Suffocating in a leadership vacuum {WoW}

Jul 11th 2011 6:09PM My guild has been dying. Slowly but surely. Our Raid Leader left us at the end of WotLK (a week after Hallion was released) and we just kind of told everyone to take a break (I'm an officer).

Since Cata, our main tank took up the role of Raid Leader as it kind of suited the situation. We got through all the normal modes of BWD, TotFW, and BoT with relative ease, then a few of our healers decided to take a break. This lead to our 25 man guild becoming a 10 man guild. We never really did much in attempts for Heroic modes, we just figured we'd get everyone their 359 gear so they could be ready to go all out when Firelands hit.

Since Firelands, our main tank and raid leader hasn't returned and has no plans to do such. All of the other officers seem reluctant to lead and I don't feel I can handle it without pulling my hair out. The guild leader has always been passive and behind-the-scenes when it comes to the guild. As an officer, I'm in charge of loot, recruitment, and setting up the raids. I've been trying to raid lead, but it's been far too stressful with the other aspects. Less of our core raiders are logging on for raids and I feel it's about time to call it quits.

Tomorrow, I leave for a week long vacation. It'll be filled with soul searching on what my next step is with WoW or maybe life in general, quitting the game entirely.

I feel the person in the letter is in a similar situation. A lot of guilds are. There are still plenty of people that want to raid, you just have to get them all together.

The Light and How to Swing It: Holy paladin gear in patch 4.2 {WoW}

Jun 19th 2011 10:19PM The pally tier looks so silly on Taurens. do-hohoho

I'm glad to see Blizz making valuable tier bonuses with gear that isn't completely awful in itemization. You go, Blizz-coco!

Ask the Devs scrapped, new Q&A coming soon {WoW}

Jun 16th 2011 5:24PM I really hope they just go back to answering intelligent forum posts and maybe utilize their Blue Tracker feature so people can see the questions answered and not post the same already-answered question. Now I'm aware it's impossible to answer all the questions, but at least in the past, a lot of important questions the community wanted to know about got answered.

Encrypted Text: Controlling tempo in PvP {WoW}

Jun 15th 2011 9:25PM It's always fascinating to me how the PvP community views PvE and vice versa. Both take minimal skill to do the first level of "content", but take far more team work and cooperation at higher levels.

The grass is always greener, I suppose.

Raid Rx: Adapting to healer deaths without combat resurrection {WoW}

Jun 6th 2011 2:59AM I feel that Cata has somewhat limited the ability for classes to switch on the fly to help the raid. Frost/Unholy DKs miss out on a lot of damage reduction, self healing, and crit reduction that Blood DKs get, so it's sadly less effective for them to try and salvage the encounter after a tank dies. The same goes for a Fury/Arms warrior popping a sword and board on. They pretty much have Shield Block up and then they go down. Sure, that's sometimes all it takes, but it's nowhere near as effective as it was in WotLK.

The same can be said for hybrid classes that can heal. With passive mastery and talents, the heals Boomkins, Ele shamans, and Shadow priests throw out aren't nearly as effective as they used to be (Tranquility aside, really. Have you seen those Feral Tranquility heals? Hawt). I remember on our first runs through Chimaeron, we had our ele shamans drop Healing Rain and our Shadow Priests spam Holy Nova. Initially, it helped, but then they wound up running out of mana to DPS, and we'd wipe from deaths in the Mortality phase.

Personally, I miss player being able to effectively switch on the fly. The new healing design makes it sadly ineffective for hybrids to switch to heals, and less possible for a DPS to switch to a tank.

Arcane Brilliance: Patch 4.2 changes, clarifications and legendary staves {WoW}

May 22nd 2011 1:55AM My DoTs haven't been spreading with Impact unless the targets it would be spread to are taking AoE damage ( Flamestrike) from me. It's odd.

So I went Arcane/Frost. Hooray.

The Light and How to Swing It: Patch 4.2 looms heavy for holy {WoW}

May 16th 2011 3:09AM Mana pools are going to increase close to the same rate as health pools. You'll be spending just as much mana trying to get people back to full as you are now. Not much will change there.
