Breakfast Topic: What game mechanic should be dumped? {WoW}

Oct 2nd 2011 8:26AM Not exactly a game mechanic, but it's close: The PVE-esque grind of PVP. If you want to PVP at even a semi-decent level you have to grind and grind to buy the gear. Then, you have to gem it, enchant it (which may require a PVE rep grind), and reforge it. Then you'll need some appropriate professions and glyphs and spec and on and on. Oh a new season is starting? Well, you get to do it all over again. I really wish it worked more like the tournament realms- you make a max level PVP-only character, hit a few vendors to get whatever gear and whatnot you need for free, and hit the BGs/Arena.

Breakfast Topic: How do you choose your spec builds? {WoW}

Aug 6th 2011 8:37AM The talent trees are so brain dead simple these days you hardly have to try to come up with a sufficient spec. With 31 points required to reach the bottom and unlock secondary trees and with trees average 35-40 points total it's not hard with even a basic understanding of the class to pick a few weak talents to skip. Then you're left to decide in which starter talents from the other two trees to stick the last 10 or so points. And unless you're looking to absolutely min/max (which means you'll probably just take a cookie cutter spec anyway) the starter talents are either obviously not for your spec (damage increasing talents for a dedicated healer) or similar enough that it doesn't really matter.

Blood Sport: Why do we play arenas? {WoW}

Jun 1st 2011 2:23AM I know a lot of people who compete in arenas/RBGs because they want all the virtual junk it rewards be it mounts, titles, gear, or achievement points. But really they don't enjoy it at all, and it ends up leading to problems (burnout, etc.). And while I too would like some of those rewards, I don't compete anymore as I really don't actually enjoy WoW PVP. On the other hand, I DO enjoy the PVE. Even if the mounts and titles and all that shit were removed I would still do it, because I enjoy it and in the end that's what's most important to me.
