Feb 9th 2012 2:05PM I have been tanking forever and just recently decided to try my first dps class. I rolled a rogue, mage, and hunter all to 30 and decided the hunter was just my favorite. Coming from a tank to a hunter was a transition that made me appreciate good hunters and mages that much more.
I have found that I can quickly jump spin/disengage -> FD once mob chases me into the tank aoe spam to quickly bring any stray aggro back to me. Heck, I have even saved overzealous mages / healers who grab aggro this way by distracting shot first.
I also don't understand why more hunters don't use their CC skills more proactively. Trap launcher plus ice trap on top of the healer saves them. Quick wyvern sting on a mob running around like crazy.. You aren't doing it to CC perse, just doing it to prevent the mob from running around like crazy, therebye giving the tank a few more seconds to grab it.
And for the love of everything. Tanks, STOP PULLING THE MOB PACK OUT OF MY FIRE TRAP!!!! The hunter aoe fire trap looks like bad stuff, and I was guilty of it until I played a hunter, but it's a vital part of hunter aoe dps now that we don't have volley!
Feb 25th 2011 10:54AM them bears are doing it wrong... agility is king for bears and cats.
Feb 7th 2011 9:42AM Perhaps I'm confused, but there is nothing in game or in the "manual" that states this. Newer players who are moving in to cataclysm content and learning that CC is important, or even some older players who started in the Wrath loot pinata era don't know these things.
Also understand that many guilds use different markings and it is very personal to the raid / group. To assume that any mook in the dungeon finder is going to know the "default" marking scheme is meh. Communication can aid in fixing this. Communicate!
For instance, I am a tank, have been since vanilla. I cannot remember a time prior to cata where I "needed" the hunter to trap. Ergo, I have never known that their symbol should have been the blue square. Now I know.. and knowing is half the battle. ;)
Jan 17th 2011 10:03AM The real question is, does that just mean progression as in "content"? Or does it mean rolling it back to day 1 status with patches etc? That doesn't make much sense...
Makes more sense to state that, in EQ's state for instance that you maintain all the good game changes that came with future expansions (i.e. races and classes maybe even, or maybe not since you couldn't play iksar or kerrans until way later on) and just reset the content available, like you could not go to velious until that expansion or kunark etc? Would like to see a lot more information on this.
