Oct 2nd 2009 3:53PM I see this as a very good chance to let alts/hybrid classes in smaller guilds get valuable experience at their off spec whether that be tanking/healing/varied form of DPS. The content is more trivial so there's not as much on the line and it also breaks the monotony of having the same 2-3 tanks and same group of healers handle everything. Guilds can let these people challenge themselves to try something new in a raid setting, so they have a much more experienced and smarter backup in case there is a missing healer or a tank who is taking a break from raiding.
Sep 30th 2009 6:47PM Why do people assume that we kill/defeat Arthas here? Yes he's the final encounter but who is to say that we defeat him? I'd personally like to see him with an exorbitant amount of health and our objective would be to take just a fraction of it to "succeed." Imagine, it being very difficult to take him down to 80% and then he mocks us, and uses a party "wipe" ability proving just how powerful the Lich King is. Th whole thing would be a la Daniel Whitcomb's "What if we Lost" article.
This would be a perfect time to have a "Hey, we lost, but even in our loss we have done important reconnaissance work for the Horde/Alliance. We know we need to bring more reinforcements for next time." How we get rewarded with loot and emblems for the encounter would be more difficult though, if we a successful run means a storyline "loss." Maybe Jaina/Sylvanas steals something from the Halls of Reflection before we get pwned and we get first dibs on that whatever they stole, maybe incorporate a "hard mode" where depending on how successful you are, you get additional items.
But then again, maybe it WILL be lame and we take him down to 1HP before he ports away. I certainly hope not.
Sep 2nd 2009 3:22PM On gmail's downtime
"...if you are one of the Enterprise or Education customers who pays Google for their app service, you just got three free days of service added to your account, on account of Gmail failing to deliver its promised 99.9 percent uptime every month. At least that’s what a Google spokesperson told Wired.com.
(For those of you doing math at home, Google’s 100 minute outage means that even if Gmail is perfect for the rest of September, the best performance it can get is 99.8 percent. That falls below the Service Level Agreement Google promises to its top-level customers.)"
If only Blizzard would do that for us...
Aug 25th 2009 4:18PM If I recall correctly, the zombie event was in 3.0.2, all of the talents and skills were out, but not the zones. Wrath hit and everyone downloaded 3.0.8. So no, the event does not necessarily have to coincide with the release of the new zones.
