Welcome to the new, new WoW Insider {WoW}

Sep 16th 2010 12:04AM Currently the addresses wow.com and wowinsider.com will take us to wow.joystiq.com. Is this planned to stay this way?

Arcane Brilliance: Mage AoE in Cataclysm, part 2 {WoW}

Sep 11th 2010 10:31PM The reason it's so exciting is simply because all the AoE dots can be merged onto the boss, and all the boss dots can be reapplied while the combustion dot runs.

Cataclysm Beta: Build 12942 restoration shaman changes {WoW}

Sep 11th 2010 12:14AM Exactly, in this case the spell is no longer a "lesser" one, but now a powerful, mana-destroying one.

Cataclysm Beta: Old weather flying will cost 250g {WoW}

Sep 9th 2010 11:23PM Also, if you don't have the expansion so you don't have the new 80-85 zones, then the developers don't have to worry about the players accidentally flying into them on flying mounts in the old world. It makes it easier to "seal them off" from those who don't have the content.

The Queue: Caturday {WoW}

The Daily Blues: Camo looking badass -- not bug {WoW}

He meant revert to the old system. And if you were attempting to be facetious, you failed.

Addon Spotlight: Management addons {WoW}

Sep 2nd 2010 10:41PM I think it also has to do with when you die, although I'm not sure. People say that Skada calculates your DPS over the entire fight (effective DPS), whereas Recount calculates your DPS until you die (personal DPS). But either way the damage done should be about the same.

In addition to graphs, Recount has raid/party syncing, and in addition to absorption, Skada has threat meter, multiple windows, and window swapping based on combat.

The Art of War(craft): A handy guide to winning at everything {WoW}

Sep 2nd 2010 7:44PM Nice article, Zach. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the View Distance setting only affect how far the client draws the terrain and terrain objects, and not other players or mobs? I'm only bringing this up because I know View Distance can dramatically alter WoW's level of stress on your system.

Heroic Shadowfang Keep and Deadmines will be released with Cataclysm {WoW}

Sep 1st 2010 3:36PM Scaling a heroic is a little more involved than simply changing the levels of the mobs. Considerations have to be made for new playstyles further into the game, as well as Cataclysm mechanics and the changed philosophy for health and crowd control.

In addition, I believe these heroic versions were to have specific lore relevance in the expansion, as opposed to other vanilla, BC, or Wrath dungeons.
