Sep 10th 2009 8:52AM Tony Jay has never done voice work for World of Warcraft. It's always been Earl Boen. He did the voice of the Lich King in The Frozen Throne, he's done ALL the intro's, he's done Magtheridon, and in the Wrath cinematic he voiced King Terenas.

That's why no one can tell the difference between the vanilla intro's and the Death Knight one; both were Earl.

Tony had a very distinct timbre and accent, which you can tell apart quite clearly. And then, consider this: Tony was one of the greatest British voice actors of our time - he's been described as "Shakespearean". Why would anyone hire him to force an American accent?

Look up some youtube vids - there are some lovely tributes with good examples of his voice work - and compare that to the intro's. You can tell the difference.

Lichborne: The future of Death Knight lore in Cataclysm {WoW}

Sep 9th 2009 2:29AM You know my problem with your writing, Daniel? There's too much "you" in it. It's a very egotistical read. YOU think, YOU're sure, YOU've been doing, YOU predict, YOU can live with this or that. That tone gets annoying fast. And in a column that's supposed to give an objective perspective on a certain subject, your post is loaded with bias and opinion - and your Worgen obsession doesn't help. This reads like something that should have been posted on a forum, not given featured space on a blog.
In addition, he's almost completely a product of the Ashbringer comic. I'm definitely not against extra-game lore sources, but cutting a character from the outside game lore and placing him front and center in the in-game lore doesn't always work out well, because people only get a partial idea of who he is and where he comes from.
You're pretty much shooting your "Varian Wrynn is right" rant clear out of the water with that comment.
