Blizzard discusses Mists of Pandaria details {Massively}

Oct 26th 2011 1:54PM @myhumps lol Funny I thought it was the fans and players who paid for this after all. When all the players have left its the fans that drive and keep those bills paid. Just look at SWG, it should have died a death years ago but the fans kept that puppy going until Lucas arts screwed the license costs up on Sony.

Hyperspace Beacon: Crafting preview {Massively}

Oct 26th 2011 1:37PM I'm an ex Armor-smith from SWG and I loved the crafting system, it was one of the best bits of the game. If SWG hadn't altered the game at the same time as WoW hit I might have continued to play it. The crafting system was just amazing. As it stands I went to WoW where its just horrendously boring and pointless as the items you craft have no real point due to the loot design.
Fingers crossed SWTOR has some variance in the quality of the product you make. I would love to have the old mining on planet days back as well :D

Blizzard's Metzen: Pandaren are as 'serious as a heart attack' {Massively}

Oct 25th 2011 1:39PM This expansion has a lot more issues than having Pandas in it, this one is full of holes and long standing issues have not been resolved.
Giving D3 away for a 12 month sub is the most telling indicator that this expansion is not up to scratch. The store for this one is so weak and the in game support of it so poor that that it will drive people away and pave the way for the younger players.
This smacks of Sony and SWG moment where they rewrote the combat system and people left in droves to WoW. I feel this one strengthen SWToRs subs, hell if they could move up the release I think they will steal major WoW subbers.
Before someone comments I will try SWToR but I'm pretty much through my MMO phase, but its still interesting to dabble :)

The Daily Grind: Will Pandaren lure you back to WoW? {Massively}

Oct 24th 2011 6:32PM I'm beginning to feel like this is another CCP. I wont be re subbing my account, I'm wondering if I will ever come back.

The expansion lacks any true reason for it, War which sees no real warfare with its to factions or any meaningful PVP on a world scale is pointless.

I have no issue with Pandas in the lore side but this expansion is pointless full stop, it feels like they are stop gaping cause they either don't know what to do next or they are struggling to advance the story either via resources or time.

Also there is a massive number of issues unresolved as other have posted, just look at crafting and how pointless a game component it is.

Very disappointing Blizzard, not even a free D3 will have me re sub, I will just get D3 without this. Fingers crossed you haven't screwed this up to :(

Blizzard discusses Mists of Pandaria details {Massively}

Oct 22nd 2011 7:06PM I've played WoW well since US beta, my sub has now finished and I have no plan to resub. I cant see anything in this new expac to make me want to resub. I think I will move on to D3 and SC2 - HotS, I might even try SWToR to see what it has to offer.
I think part of it is that the player base in WoW has changed not for the better in my experience and I dont feel I can relate to other guild members and the current blizzard game strategy for WoW.
I've done the hardcore 50 hours hardcore raider (Cleared most of Naxx 40) to the pro casual so I have experience from most angles.

The Light and How to Swing It: Why is the mana gone? {WoW}

Sep 5th 2010 5:28PM Not enjoying the Retribution design just now, healing as ret feels strained to the point Ive died a few time in Hyjal when I got an extra mob on me by accident. Only instant heals use holy power which as a resource feels far to limited in stacks and slow to build at times.
To be frank it really sucks that they removed the Art of War giving instant Exorcism or Flask of Light. Flash of light is a high mana use spell which I think would still make it a bit more interesting in use due to mana constrates. Its basically now dps or live due to what seems to be a low healing value off seals and a low amount of heal back from Holy power use.
My paladin is gear in 264 and about half 277 items so Im not lacking punch to dps stuff.
Things wouldnt be so bad if the mobs arent feeling like a grind fest with their high health and what seems to be outragous damage at times. Not uncommon to have mobs thump you for 5k over and over at times.
So far im not enjoying it, I worry for the levelling process in outlands and northrend as well. If things stay as they are I think I will move to another class for this expac and make sure any alts are levelled to 80 as 60-80 sounds painful from other beta users experiences.
Do I really want a grind fest to level characters after 60 to 85? I'm going to say no since I dont want to sink in the same time these days to wow as before in classic. WoW has evolved to a more casual state and so have I.

The Light and How to Swing It: On gap-closers and empty GCDs {WoW}

Aug 26th 2010 1:45PM Well so far from my play time with my paladin I so far feel more likely to die from mobs if I happened to get 2 on me. Hard not to in Hyjal.
I have long moments in button pressing when going up against a mob, I seriously miss instant Flask of lights. Dislike holy powers version of the instant heal since it gives a small heal in relation to what felt like a very scarce resource that saw me do even less dps generation if I moved it to keeping myself alive.
I kind of hoping they dont stick with the mobs damage or health levels just now, maybe if one was changed it wouldnt feel such a slog. I know its a fine balance but while I dont want ROFLMAO mobs, I also dont want to feel like leveling alts are to much hassel. At this time if feels close to the latter.

The Failure of Secrecy: The alpha, leaks, and the WoW community {WoW}

May 7th 2010 4:58PM A few comments

1. After the wotlk alpha I think blizzard where already planning for this, when the news hit MMO Champion the thread for the start of the alpha quickly started massing after the first posting of the deathwing picture. At this point admins deleted the posting and other references to it in the following posts, but after about 30-60 minutes the train was well out of the station. But at this point there was still no word from Boubouille on the matter and there was about a 12-18 hour window of no update. After this time there was a confirmation of the pictures status and a statement of no more information from Boubouille.
At the same time the Torrent sites where streaming the client hard around the web with a talk of a Usenet upload as well, at this point I thought to myself that this was just a matter of hours before it was gutted.
I think at this point Boubouille had a deal with Blizzard to do a controlled 'burn' of the client to do some damage limitation, I think Blizzard had this well planned in the background as a 'backup' plan if you will.
Part of the reason I think this is because the client is extremely well polished, I think its bordering on Open/closed beta state at this time for a first build. I think they held back this client to this stage to give a good impression to the harder core wow gamer that can’t wait for these details.
I really think the NDA is a waste of Blizzards time and money now to pursue sites and leakers and they know it.
But as posted in this article they have themselves to blame, the community is like a dog that’s been left in the house on its own starved of attention. Give it long enough it dies out (Community moves on) or its frothing at the mouth for information.
I love Blizzards games truly, but their management don’t seem to manage this sort of communication very well and it reaps what it sows now. You would like they would do better now considering they generate revenue in excess of 1 Billion US Dollars a year. Oh well maybe they will learn from it, here’s hoping.
